for years i've been screwed with by some very bad people, people satan would kick out of his organization because even the devil might let up on evil just to allow someone to catch their breath.

with the jwism's bad people move up while good people move down or leave the kingdom hall for good.

i was talking with two elders who said "you know if you return to the kingdom hall, jehovah will bless you and these people will stop screwing with you.

How screwed are you...? Only as screwed as you want to be. She sounds like a bit of a train wreck. A mooch living off of you and giving nothing in return. Been there done that. It will NEVER change. Leave while you can. If you are child free then dear god run now. It wont be long before she gets pregnant.

Who or What is the Holy Spirit?

tradition within christianity has long been that any time the phrases holy spirit, holy ghost, or spirit of godare used in the bible (especially in the new testament), it always refers to the mysterious third divine person of the trinity, who is fully god, co-equal to the father and son, yet somehow distinct.. i want to present a simplified alternative view: let the context determine the meaning!.

(one thing to keep in mind is that the meaning of the bible words used for spirit basically is unseen force or invisible presence.).

the holy spirit as the mind and personality of god.

Sigh.... Viv, Thor is a God. Spiderman is just a kid who got bitten by a radioactive spider that gave him the the proportional strength of said arachnid. Nobody ever argues that spiderman is remotely on Thors level in strength/power.

Also nobody worships spiderman.

Also Thor is real, spiderman is just a fictional comic character.

A more appropriate comparison would be goku verses superman, which is also silly because superman wins everytime but at least they are both fictional.

Like the spirit.

several threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.

fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.

a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.

The JC is the most culty aspect of the organization. Its so far from appropriate or nessary.

im going by memory, so not an exact quote...i believe this was around 2002, at the crownsville assembly hall (now sold from what i understand)..

he said basically: some people watch an hour show and give up the faith that theyve had for decades..

the impact of this show was like a canon being shot into a swimming pool.

One of the most difficult things in life is to challenege long held beliefs. Its especially difficult having been a part of a cult, as we can all relate. Im willing to cut fisherman some slack i hope we all can :)

Now we are getting somewhere! Why does how I view MY service that I believed was to god effect you in anyway? Why do you care? Does it alter how YOU view YOUR service to god...?
I enjoyed my time there, in its own way. I had plenty of fun and meet people that i still talk to up until this very day. I also learned a lot about hard work and dealing with expectations, just a ton of positive things really. I dont regret my year there but i damn sure knew then and know now it wasnt for me long term. The disrespect and lack of appreciation for my service and efforts was proof enough that they didnt want me.
