  I think a more pressing crisis is the lack of men who are able to be their local area managers. The “elders” really are the only thing propping up the ship.

  That unpaid work force of managers spreading the propaganda, setting the tone locally, making sure people engage in self propagandizing by being at meetings and in field service etc etc is the back bone. Without that segment the org folds and they have issues finding people they think are qualified to handle it. In the washington dc area countless congregations are runnig with 3 or 4 elders. They are burning them out. This area is flush with people, if anywhere shouldnt be short handed its here... but here they are, short handed.

  slim, please dont misunderstand me, i see where they reconized the need to retool and make cut backs because they couldnt sustain it which absolutely means they were going to fail if they didnt change and i dont begrudge you or anyone else the hope that it happens. I just want to be clear that although we dont see this the same we are on the same team, so to speak

  Lol for god sake they have multiple times predicted the end of the world and gotten past it!!! They can do and say anything they want. They wont call it a tithe but thats what it will be. Hell the goddamn kingdom hall perpetual mortgage scam is a tithe! As dreary just said, as long as they have believers in their brand of cult they have survival.

  Slim, the problem with predicting the fincial ruin ,and i hate to repeat myself and make you do the same, is that you assume there is nothing comming in simply because that rubber faced buffoon lett cried poor on a a monthly broadcast. They have cut back yes (it was obviously necessary) but that dosent equate to any sort of imminent demise.

  They have money comming in.

  They are not broke.

  They will tithe before they let themselves collapse.

  guy a and guy b were in bondage for a long time.

  during this period, they have endured a lot of suffering and hardship.. somehow, they managed to escape from their captors.. guy a was very happy that he regained his freedom.

  he put everything behind him, work hard and succeeded in building up a career.. 10 years later, he met guy b. he asked guy b what he has been doing for the past 10 years.. guy b replied :" i can't forget how we suffered while in bondage.

  Im sorry, in my haste to post i didnt realize that part of my comments were missing. What i posted was not my own. Its a zen story i like and your original post reminded me of it.

  I am very very much a believer in letting go of personal wt frustrations but also a believer in helping others out of the org wherever possible. Its a balance between not living in bondage to past wrongs (or carrying the girl) but also not forgetting the reasons to help others still trapped.

  A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a very young and beautiful woman also attempting to cross. The young woman asked if they could help her cross to the other side.
  
  The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows not to touch a woman.
  
  Then, without a word, the older monk picked up the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his 
journey.
  
  The younger monk couldn’t believe what had just happened. After rejoining his companion, he was speechless, and an hour passed without a word between them.
  
  Two more hours passed, then three, finally the younger monk could contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”
  
  The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?”
