  PORTUGAL: Filed a petition to the parliament to erase the legal entity of the Jehovah's Witness

  based on legal arguments that revolve around violations of several articles of the portuguese constitution, and of the law of religious freedom, a petition to the portuguese parliament has been set in motion to extinguish the legal entity that represents the jehovah's witness in portugal and remove this community from the national register of recognized religions protected by law.

  the petition does not seek to ban the jehovah's witness as a whole in the country.

  the petition denounces the institutional policy of shunning former members as a violation of basic human rights and psychological torture, and asks the portuguese legislators and judicial authorities to take action to stop this abuse, and suspend legal recognition to the branch office entity until the policies of shunning are changed.

  When my jw joined up he was not told about all the rules.

  Nonsense. Before baptism jws are required to go through three separate one hour (or more) sessions answering around 300 questions that deal with every aspect of jw life including the obligation to shun. Its sad and frankly awful but no one can claim they didnt know. Also no one can get baptized in a short period of time (one or two months) and then claim they didnt know. You have to study for months (sometimes years) then go out in field service consistently (sometimes a year or more) before you can be considered to go over the questions for baptism.

  Maybe he had buyers remorse. Maybe he was just really bamboozled (lots of us were) but to say he didnt know? Dosent add up.

  As for the OP... have fun titling at that windmill. If a petition makes you feel better then petition away.

  the may 2018 watchtower is now out and thought i would make a few observations.in this article we get a story about gb sam herd.

  the recurring theme throughout is the struggles he has had as a black man.he was born in 1935 in a one roomed log cabin in liberty indiana.

  his mother raised him in the baptist church.

  Reads like a well written eulogy for Sam Herd even though he is still alive. Maybe a prophecy or prediction the GB will eventually get right. Now we understand why they just appointed another GB member.

  Not to be goolish but its a predicition that is guaranteed to be correct for all of them. And all of us. There is no panda petting paradise.

  those of us here wasting our time trying to show who trump really is .... it's like trying to reason with all those still in the organization.

  they have found a new person to fill their heads with lies and control they way they think.

  in many ways this ts amazing to me.. i am out of the wbts and free.

  Its stone cold laughable to call someone who supports a policy decision of the president “in a new cult” when the same thing could be easily said of those who disagree with a policy decision simply because it came from trump. Ive said it before and i’ll say it again: its trite and classless to play the “cult” card. We are adults and can form our own opinions. The simple fact that we left the witness cult shows we can all think for ourselves.

  Can we simply debate policy on merit? Is that too much to ask? Or is the hate so deep and blind that any discussion is shut down with the word “trump” and you go into full shutdown mode and begin with ridiculous insults?
