  Action Music (in movies) in the past VS the present

  understanding action musicin the past vs the present______.

  in the golden and silver ages of hollywood, composers with classical, romantic era training created action music out of thematic (tuneful) motifs.

  these catchy 'tunes' were used as 'bricks' whilst the orchestral techniques of arranging and orchestration were the 'mortar' binding and building the overall structure towering above mere image+sound effects.the result gave an audience something i will call "an intellectual access" to onscreen "meaning" in the story.what's that?a "tune" is an organizing principle.a tune has a beginning, middle, and end.a tune "tells" us something.what remains is "the way it is spoken.

  Totally agree thay modern movies have gotten away from a meaningful original soundtrack. Most movies seem to use music that is already popular, meaning they take songs already created and use them as a premade sound track.

  i think, however, you have glossed over a very very important composer in john williams. Williams has composed some of the most incredible and memorable sound tracks in all of movie history. He is unquestionably the greatest composer in movie history and you cant tell the modern history of hollywood without talking about him. In other words, you cant talk about modern movie sound tracks and dissmiss the best and most prolific sound track composer.

  Clarification needed re shunning policy

  i am in the process of writing to parliament about the practice of shunning by jehovah's witnesses.

  what i need to clarify if the practice is 'specifically' mentioned in any of the books used for bible study/ recruitment leading up to baptism?.

  i would be grateful if anyone could clarify this in case i get my facts wrong when writing my letter..

  I am including a few screen shots of the book “organized to do j****’s will”. There is a section on disfellowshipping. Also in the questions for baptism there a few that deal with it as well. In theory witnesses know about it before they get baptized. The problem is, as Simon noted, nobody u derstands (not really) what leads to it and how devastating it can be to a cult member. There is some ephemeral belief that god will look out for you and never allow you to be unjustly df’d and the older men are all good guys and wouldnt take a personal grudge out on you like that etc etc

  The org is creatong a digital data base wit members names... supposedly. There was a video regarding it posted not long ago. We will have to see how it plays out but its hardly nefarious. This is 2018. As i said on the other topic, my grocery store has more info on me than what the org is proposing.

  ... a woman has been filmed in the gym wearing gym clothes.

  at least, according to the daily mail.. the deeply conservative (that's polite speak for 'religious and demented') kingdom has apparently closed the gym down and threatened to prosecute the person who filmed the gorgeous young woman in lycra.. although i believe that female gym users can wear gym gear in any gym, what's especially ludicrous is: she was filmed in a female gym!.

  You are correct on those counts, crow. And american law holds innocent until proven guilty and you cant circumvent the law to get a guilty verdict because you “know” its the right thing. Sometimes bad guys get away.

  Why else do you think they're transitioning to trolly and park table work? It (among other things) is an attempt to mitigate any potential accusations that "sex offenders are knocking on your doors trying to recruit your kids".

  Interesting thought, but it dosent add up. The door to door slavery is still in full effect and the only “exemplarily ” can do the carts. That means pedos are excluded from carts but still expected to go door to door....

  No it dosent. You see, dear bubby, here is where the logic cuts. You, that is...

  the plantiff who settles gets what they wanted, money/restitution of some sort. That was the intent of the law suit. They won.

  The entity who settles gets nothing. They give. Money, usually. And a lot of it. The one thing that corporations being sued have that the plaintiffs usually dont is unlimited time and vasts amounts of money to abuse the legal system. That unlimited time to litigate and huge pile of cash to play with become the bargaining chip to settle. Id expect a smart guy like you to know that... but then your really not THAT smart. Or honest with yourself.

  In the end bubby, its ok. What you and i yap about on this forum is irrelevant to the law. The wt will settle as they always do because they dont want the bad press and they damn sure dont want to turn over the documents. The plaintiffs will be paid with your contributions and the law will have had its day. Theres no problem at all really.

  It is a FACT that 100% settlements are reached because the defendants think they are going to loose. As the wt has thought that over and over again and thus settled... over and over again.

  Crow, if there is not search warrant than you cant break into someones home and search no matter what you think you “know”.

  There is a process. The law will play out here as it usually does in these cases... the wt will stall and stall and finally settle out of court for an undisclosed amount. Strange track record for an innocent organization
