Judy wasnt adopted. She was maureens first child, john is her step dad. It plays into their relationship.... that said, it also grew on me. My problem with it was that initially they tried to cram too much into every episode. As it went on they slowed down a bit and developed more without rushing. It wasnt perfect as a series but i will watch season two

Lost in Space -Netflix- No spoilers.
by smiddy3 ini have just finished watching the first series 10 episodes and at first i was just a little bit curious and not to sure about it however it certainly grew on me .. it deviates from the old tv series and has a slightly more darker side to it as well as being a bit more modern with life situations judy being coloured and adopted ,and john and maureen a couple with issues and the robot is just out of this world .lets not forget dr.smith as a female and more sinister than her counterpart of the tv series.. i would rate it 8.5 out of 10 .
and look forward to the next series and hope that their is one because i definitely think it has a future .. anybody else seen it ?

Bethelite statistics
by john.prestor inhey guys, i'm working on a paper about exploitation amongst jehovah's witnesses ( i'm also preparing a book about jehovah's witnesses and interaction ritual theory, and another paper about jehovah's witnesses and discrimination against women).
i'm trying to calculate as exact figures as i can concerning how much bethelites are paid.
does anyone know the monthly stipend as of now?

Lol well good effort on your part making the call. The proper nomenclature used to be something like a “monthly stipend” or some such thing. Make the call again in a few days and try that, see what theu say. They are paranoid about answering the question and being caught in legal trouble. Also keep in mind the little jw flunky answering the switchboard isnt really trained and dedicated to be answering phones, it used to be a job rotated among older residents who were trusted to be polite. At night it was just the desk guy who let people in and out.

Wealth, Poverty, and Morality
by SecondRateMind ini am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.
apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.
luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.

I think helping the poor is everyone's responsibility just as it would be if you knew them personally. Would you let kids with pot bellies and stick limbs starve if they lived in your street? It doesn't make any difference that we don't know them.
heres the difference: if i help poor kids on my street i have great lattitude on what gets done. Maybe i cook a few meals. Maybe i buy needed groceries or offer transportation to a doctor etc etc... its real, practical help based on what that individual or individuals need. You are talking donations to charities in other countries rife with fraud and waste. Independent reports on those organization show pennies on the dollar are used for the people they claim to be intended for... its pointless and useless. Its also indicative of “feel good” politics. Without fixing the fundamental problems of the countries themselves nothing will ever change.

Get used to the idea, _Morpheus,
😂😂😂😂 false. I will not, i need not, accept your ridiculous notion.
that all your wealth, however derived, is down to God's providence far more than it is due to your own virtue.
Correct. Virtue had nothing to do with it. It was work and perseverance on my part. Neither you nor your petty desert god had a hand in it.
And it is given to us to steward wisely on His behalf, not fritter on consumer indulgence
amazing to me that the so called god of heaven of and earth needs me to be a steward for him. Trust me he could do better. If he were real.
I do hope you enjoy being broke waiting on god to give you someone elses hard earned gain.

Lol what a douce . Someone who works, plans and sacrifices to have the finical means to live a good life gets punished in the afterlife?
screw you and your “god”. And be advised your idea of “best wishes” are not welcomed by me.

300 sounds like way too much. It was 90$ in the early 1990s when i was there.
