  okay, they cheapened the product by getting rid of hardcover books.

  they reduced printing of mags.

  they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.

  ok that aside, ive long said some for of tithing will come round. They wont call it that, but thats what it will be.. the congregation perpetual mortgage scam is a form of tithe as it is.

  her question: (isn't the watchtower teaching a form of "evolution" right now and my jw family just don't realize it?).

  hold on sandra, grampa (atlantis), says that (cofty) is pretty much an expert on evolution and can answer your question more accurately than we can.

  I apologize to cofty in advance for fielding this, but this a pretty simple one...

  the short answer is no. The wt org’s teaching is, in effect, that we all are now ‘damaged goods’, so to speak. We are like a car with a mechanical problem. In humans we call that problem “sin”. In the new world humans dont evolve into anything more complex nor do they change into anything else, the machine (human bidy) is simply repaired and restored to proper function, in the same way a repaired car hasnt evolved into something else, its simply been restored to proper function.

  As always, i dont buy it, im just clarifying the teaching so it can be properly debunked.

  Kingdom Hall "sale" - new light!

  in a town called stevenston on the west coast of scotland, the kingdom hall was closed down approximately 6 months ago and the congregation (named kilbirnie) was assigned to use the kingdom hall of the nearby irvine congregation.. according to an ldc source at mill hill, the kilbirnie kh is scheduled for a refurbishment!

  the org boots out the congregation and leaves their kh redundant for 6 months?????????

  so what if some members of the governing body have been accused of molesting a child and used the 2 witness rule to silence a accusation?

  so could it be that because some high up watchtower corporation person/persons has clung to the rule because it save's his corporate ass.

  Really, oh slim one? More reasonable to suspect a pedo is being hidden on the gb than a russian spy..? Have you noted the state of russian/jw relations recently? I think your greatly underestimating the chances.

  The point is the op is unfounded. Its not even being suggested or attributed to a specific member of the gb, its simply being asked “is it possible”.... again, of course its “possible”. Its possible the earth will crash into the sun today... by asking the question “is it possible” brokeback was trying to drum up the crazies and the rabid foaming at the mouth group to get all whipped up into a frenzy of crazy and the board can bask in unbound speculation and hate in the wake of the A&E show.

  instead of indulging the crazy train perhaps there could be some sanity

  This again? A pet topic i see.....

  is it “possible”? Of course. Its also possible one of the gb is a russian spy with a thing for sex with goats. Its possible I AM THAT GOVERNING BODY MEMBER!!!!!

  asking “ is it possible” is really just your way of making an unsubstantiated inflammatory accusation against a group that most of us do not like and many downright hate.

  You feel safe making the accusation because of the general dislike and because its a nebulous “one of them” and not specifically aimed at an individual.

  it dosent make it less inflamitory, less unfounded or less stupid than my russian spy “possibility”.

  Of course its “possible” but there is no reason to believe it, no whisper of such a thing at this point. There is far more than enough evidance to convince me of leo greenlees guilt but Ive not seen nor heard a peep of such a thing regarding anyone since. Its a small small world, far smaller now than in the 70’s and early 80’s. To think that could be hidden in todays climate is as far fetched as it gets. Dont you agree, comrade?

  Nature is amazing :)

  i studied biology at uni and specialised in animal biology (wolf behaviour) but i've always liked natural history.. even if i never went to uni, i'd still be amazed by nature and i'd still watch nature programs on tv.. i'd like start a thread where posters can post nature clips that are in some way amazing.. the vid below shows wild wolves in the canadian arctic encountering humans for the first time.. these wolves haven't been exterminated by human hunters and therefore haven't learnt to fear humans.

  result: wild wolves approach human strangers almost like dogs.

  I blame monterey bay for that. They kept a female Carcharodon carcharias for 16 days and drew huge attendance, prompting other to copy. They have done it several more times since. To their credit, none of them have died, but several refused food, one attacked other sharks (surprise surprise). They simply are not compatible with captivity.

  As an aside, i wish every japaneese whaling and shark finning ship was on the bottom of the ocean.

  i also cheered every time a captive orca attacked some at seaworld.

  Some creatures thrive in “captivity” (that is to say with humans or with human care), some tolerate it and some simply will not ever accept being kept captive and its wrong to even try.
