  i just skimmed the titled article on jw.org and once again the watchtower is misdirecting:.

  they try and make the old case that jesus saves us from being destroyed at armageddon.

  DC2015 New Release: Brochure "Return to Jehovah" for those who faded/left

  it appears that a new 16-page brochure, with the title "return to jehovah" is to be released at the regional convention (dc) this year.

  it would be written specifically for those faded or da/df.chapters are:a letter from the governing body1.

  Marvins thread tittle completly glosses the topic! I didnt even bother clicking because it didnt seem interesting (at a glance). However a new broschure directed towards inactive ones does peak my curiosity.... The chapter titles, if accurate, betray an astonishing lack of insight as to why people leave.

  Of course that brochure isnt really written for the inactive. Its written, like all things, for the sole consumption of the faithful. Its a way to put reason to those that leave...either they were disgruntled or impatient, in effect. "See! I know thats why my brother or sister or best friend left because i read in this brochure!" After all, those that leave know better. We know exactly what our issues are and no brochure is going to fix. The org knows too. They will never address the real issues because of course they cant, but they can continue to put a smiling face on and look welcoming if for no other reason than to create a sense of comfort among those that stay for the fleecing.

  if you are willing to pay attention to the org's history and do any kind of unbiased personal research, it's impossible to miss ttatt.. watchtower's publication archive provides all the information anyone would ever need.where are all of the "half truths and outright lies" actually coming from?

  ( old light ).

  why, oh why, back in 1989 when i first got hooked did i not do any research into the watchtower corporation?.

  Its true kairos. I also take you thread tittle in this respect: they made us apostates when they taught us one thing, told us it was absolute truth and then changed it. We were then left with the terrible option: to either realize what we first believed was wrong and apostate or keep on believing what they now said was wrong and be apostate....

  Theists, why does God allow suffering..

  ..specifically, the suffering of animals.

  you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

  i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

  There is another conclusion:

  god DID create the 'world'. It was cruel, violent and wasteful. By his standards it was indeed "good".... If we take him at his word, that is :)

  i dont know which suits bible belivers more but i know which i prefer....

  who is ellwood johnson?.

  all i could find mentioned about him is that he is, or was, a circuit overseer.. this previous thread is about a talk that was actually given by ellwood johnson, not samuel herd.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/217287/witness-plays-gov-body-samuel-herd-talk-me-he-mentally-ill?.

  he also gave a talk in which people were laughing about some aspect of child abuse.so, does anyone know anything about him?

  Ok so i just read the thread you linked too.... Not only did ellwood give that talk, i heard him give it. im not the one who recorded it, but i heard him deliver it. Definatly ellwood.. Firery CO, was much higher up but rubbed Someone the wrong way at the branch and got busted back to CO. Hes reitred from the travling work and lives in baltimore now.

  For what its worth, johnson was the one CO i ever meet who actually cared more about the friends than the organizations rules. He is a genuine man who is trapped in a cult and really believes the nonsense, as many of us did. He acted with integrity and i never saw him care more for a position than doing the right thing. Im not trying to passionately defend the org (which i hate) only the man.

  Well Esse, i will answer with a quote that commented on righeousness and our perceptions of it:

  "There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you."

  Now... I been sayin' that for years. And if you ever heard it, that meant your butt. You'd be dead right now. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say someone before I popped a cap in his him...But I saw something this mornin' made me think twice.
