I can understand that. There is a certain "in your face" element to the way some have carried on in the wake of the SC decision. Even DJS and VIV, two posters i like and enjoy chatting with, have admitted to gleefully gloating and cheering the jailing of this dilly woman in the same sort of "in your face" spirit... but in the end, so what? If they purposely came to her jurisdiction to get their marriage licenses, she could have chosen to be the bigger person, roll her eyes and issue them. Wish them a good day and tell them to move along. instead she choose to insinuate herself into the political realm on her job, to make commentary instead of adhering to the law and doing her duty. if its that big an issue, take a principled stand and resign. thats courageous. thats being a martyr for the cause. I could respect that. what i can't respect is being against people eating pork and then having a job at a barbecue joint and refusing to serve me pork because you don't want me to eat it.

Its also curious that some are saying the jusge attacksd a religious belief... Really? Shes no longer allowed to disaprove of gays?she wasnt jailed for a belief. She was jailed for not Doing her job.

She is allowed to believing eating a pork is a sin. However she can not have a job at a barbecue place and refuse to serve pork and expect to keep her job. She is free to keep her belief and get another job if serving pork offends her. She is free to let people make their own decisions and deal with her gods consequences. Her own apostle paul said, at romans 14:4

What right do you have to criticize someone else’s servants? Only their Lord can decide if they are doing right, and the Lord will make sure that they do right.

She is under no obligation to male sure others dont eat pork. Its their choice, their consequences.

Im finding it harder and harder to believe that a simple minded county clerk in the middle of bum screw america is still such a hot topic. She never stood a chance of blocking any legal marriage in the long term. It was doomed to faliure. Giving her attention despite her clear and obvious legal defeat only makes her supporters feel somehow vindicated that she was persecuted or however they want to spin it. I give her the same eye roll of disbelief that i would give a person speeds past a red light in front of cop. Your going to jail and you deserve it. Its not worth two inchs of news space beyond that

feeling of hopelessness and fear

I went through some serious feelings of unease, fear, loss, depression and even, once at a very low point, suicidal feelings.

It passes. It gets better. Soooo much better! Ive never been happier and more empowered, and i was a pretty cocky and confident person in the cult as it was :) the anxiety and fear comes from having from your support and cooping mechanisms taken away (meaning you cant relie on the org or the desert god to handle things for you)

focus on developing new stratagies for handling things, thinking things through. It really does get better!

i know there is a lot of people on here that will say it is pure make believe but i am interested if anybody has had any real concrete things happen such as something moving or something appearing in the mirror etc.. anything just post it up here even if it wasn't much.

please give a little context as to the situation..

I will share my one encounter....

my wife and I fooled around a little before we were married. Not sex but crossed lines that jw's would certainly frown on. Shortly after we were married i experienced something i had never before known nor have felt in the 20+ years since....

we were living in our new apartment and i fell asleep, a bit anxiety ridden over our new marriage, bills i was unaccustomed to etc etc. i "awoke" in a sweat, an intense heat blazing through the apartment. I walked out of the bedroom and past the kitchen and heard the sound of a hot oven, that sort of 'whoosh' when the heat escapes. I looked over and the oven was growing a distorted metalic face. It looked at me and proclaimed in a voice that was (in my opinion) pure evil and menance:

"im going to tell everyone what you did"

i was terrified... Cold sweat instantly broke out all over my body.. And suddenly i realized: i didnt care.

I looked strait at the oven and said as much.

The face screamed and receded.

It was then that i genuinely woke. Sheets damp from my sweat but a true and deep calm pervading.

For years i really believed that was demon attack, that somehow i was open to it because of my wife and I's little dalliances. Eventually i realized the truth. I was young and stressed out over my new and difficult marriage. I was also deeply indoctrinated and feeling guilty over dating conduct that wasnt the least bit unusual even amongst witness couples.

A garden variety "night terror".

im not a believer in demons or the supernatural.

To be clear, im fairly conservative in my views (especially on finances) but this who todo is rediculious. She's plainly wrong and its hard to fathom why people dont get it... I would illustrate this way:

if her religion dictated that she not eat pork, all well and good , nobody is making her. The problem is she got a job at a place that sells pork and is making sure nobody else is eating it.

Whether or not she agrees with the premise, its the law. Her job is to record documents and ensure they are issued per the law. Thats it. Approval of concepts isnt in her purview. Neither is legislating.

Under normal circumstances i would simply say fire the fool and everybody moves on, however i dont think thats an option her case (legally). She was warned by a judge. She choose not to resign (clearly her paycheck was at least as important as her principles). She got what she wanted and deserved in my view. Problem solved. The system woked in this case.
