Bethel layoff question
by CookieMonster inhi,.
with the layoffs of bethelites and special pioneers, does anyone know if they get some sort of "redundancy" payout?

The org isnt stupid. There is a reason you have to sign a vow of poverty. Bethelites and special pioneers will get nothing but a tip of the cap and a 'have a nice day'. -

Absolutely not. Their "service" ends at the conclusion of a month. They get no payment for the followimg month. If a bethelite gets sent home mid month your still outta luck. Whatever you got is what your going to get. -

On respect for the belief of others. Sorry for the long post
by StarTrekAngel ini am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.
i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.
it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

I loved my children before they born or i had any knowledge of them as individuals.
i have loved cars and planes at first glance, simply on their design.
ive loved women ive never meet having only seen pictures in magazines.
Knowledge can enhance love but its not a prerequisite for it.

i agree that love is counter (if not totally opposite) to love.
love is emotional and irrational. Knowledge is based on facts and nonemotional assesments of facts.
Seems like a solid statment to me

About 'Regular' Pioneers
by Gayle innow that district overseers have been deleted, now that bethelites are being devalued and increasingly dismissed, now that special pioneers are being deleted in u.s., and maybe elsewhere gradually.
who would have ever thought?.
yet, now what is the value to be a regular pioneer to the org?

Interesting question gale but i take the opposite view. As i see if, pioneers have zero downside for the org so why not have as many as possible? Its always been a tiered system of service and rank and pioneer is the best some can ever achieve since they lack a penis. They arnt a a paticular drain since so much literature is digital now. Its simple numbers for them.... Send as many as you can out to recruit and see what sticks. Its all free, who cares!

WT Mtg "read scriptures" are only to be read by a 1 brother???
by Olivia Wilde inwe had co visit recently & it appears that the co told the elders of the congregation that the scriptures indicated on the wt to be "read" on the watchtower study are only to be read by 1 brother in the entire study.... the elder conducting the watchtower announced that at the wt mtg... i was like what???
only men?....
has anyone else had this occur in their congregation?

Yea it was in the letter when they sent directions on the "study edition" five or six years ago. Few congregations follow it

Your thoughts on Halloween , yes, no or maybe ?
by Finkelstein inwell its that time again when the ghouls come out to play.
i personally think halloween is a bit irresponsible and inappropriate from a sociological perspective.. there's something about the intent of frightening young impressionable children minds with frightening objests.
and feeding them candy which most likely cause tooth decay and stomachs is irresponsible activity conducted by adults.

October 31 is traditionally called "the night of courage" held on honor of all the brave who have died. In the old calendar October 31 marks the start if winter the time when death is strong in nature. The celebration includes a tribute to the heros of the past, men and women who neither lived quietly nor died quietly.
christains just copoted it

Suicide or Real Freedom? - My Story As One Of Jehovah's Witnesses
by dubstepped in"sometimes i think the only thing i could do that wouldn't upset someone would be to kill myself.".
those were the frustrated words of my friend as we stood out in his large yard in the country, just about to enjoy a nice bonfire on a beautiful night.
what was it that could have been a lesser evil than killing himself?
