Is it true? Heard a rumor WT postphones Disfellowshipping until further notice!!??

i am not sure if it's true but i heard from a good source that wt has given instructions to elders to postponed disfellowshipping members from wrong doing/gross sin until further instructions given by headquarters.

i heard some jws were just reproved either privately or publically.

has anyone else heard anything like this recently?

I certainly respect you perspective, that the witness faith isnt pure evil top to bottom. I agree. However some of your points worth remarking on, for instance:

But JWs have successfully done it in all their Offices throughout the world for over a century. This is no insignificant accomplishment as this has the potential to solve virtually all the problems of the world.

Your misstating the facts. Nobody at bethel is paid anything. Bethelites have taken a legal vow of poverty. They receive a "stipend" to offset small personal expenses.

Im also lost as to why this makes number 2 on your list of positive things. The bethel "family" is very very small compared to the overall number of witnesses world wide and is shrinking. This is by no means representative of witnesses everywhere or a reflection on their positive influence on their members. Further i have no clue how you think receiving a small monthly stipend would virtually all the worlds problems. Thats patently ridiculous.

Thats incorrect. Many many of the witnesses in the organization today were baptized as children. They had reasonable concept of what they were agreeing too or what it meant.

Far far from it. Most of us are EXTREMELY happy to be gone (to whatever extent we are gone) and find frustration only to the extent that we have to interact with family and friends that are still involved. We come here to help others break free, like you. Unlike the husband in your illustration we do not seek out active witness. We patiently wait for them to find us and then lovingly assist them :)

In principle i don't disagree that perspective is key and attitude has a big impact on how view our lives, how well we deal with changing circumstances or even set backs etc etc..

My problem with the context here is that he actually lacks realistic perspective. If your cloths are on fire its not realastic perspective to say "well at least im warm".... Its a harmful, potentially fatal situation, and needs to be addressed immediately! In this case he is talking, in part, about people who were invited to be part of a religious order, told to sacrifice most of their worldly possestions, quit their jobs, relocate to far away cities, and take a vow of poverty. The promise was, if you work hard, the religious order would provide food and shelter. There are also countless promises of 'oh the end of the world is anyday now' etc etc.. Now they are being told to leave the religious order through no bad act or deserving cause. The order simply decide they didnt need them anymore and absolutely no help is being given to assist in the transition! Its a cold heartless act by ANY measure but especially from a supposedly loving religion.

victimizing someone and telling them to get over it isnt perspective. Its abusive and more evidence its a cult.

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

i was sitting at the recent circuit assembly that i attended, (the things i do for sis blues) and the baptism talk was under way .

i admit that my mind was more on my imminent packed lunch and flask of coffee but i distinctly heard the speaker make the statement that heads this thread and cite a wt reference.. you what !

i was shocked....... how can they possibly make such an arrogant statement ?

I cant believe you all are missing the key. They say the "unrestricted" privilege of prayer. Then they dont define what a "restricted" prayer is. Its typical cult weasel words. Its a non sequitur statment purposely designed to mean exactly nonthing...or whatever they want when they say it. Its designed to make people feel good for being baptised into the cult, as if they got some intangible benefit.
