Well one way CO’s cost money is health care. That is a “hidden” expense for them and why they ran out many older CO’s ten or so years ago.

they have good connections to bethel.. he told me that the latest rumor from bethel states that the cos should be abolished in their present form.
they have also recently begun to take cos back to bethel.. over the same channel i have already heard of the car fleet program and that the dos should be abolished.. has anyone else already heard of it?

Need help understanding the Overlapping Generation teaching

to me, the jw definition of the overlapping generation teaching is that the lives of the anointed from 1914 overlap with the lives of the anointed right now.
david splane used the example of fred franz and how he finished his "earthly course" in 1992 but while he did, he had a lot of "contemporaries" that outlived him and are currently living today.

It dosent make sense because its stupid. Nowhere did jesus indicate anything about overlapping. In fact the end came just as he said he it would.. in one generation, a mere 30 years.
The org had to come up with a reason the generation that saw 1914 didnt also see the end of the system of things. Overlapping was all they could up with, something the bible never mentioned, never implied and makes absolutely no sense at all.

Slim, i dont want to appear to be failing to engage your points but i have a commitment tonight. When i get an oportunity i will pull relevant quotes from your other topics and posts but suffice to say jws could not now or ever sell to other branches. Thats a silly remark since branches distributed to publishers anyway. The bottome line was always your claim that pubs donated because of literature and barring that the org had no business model.. right???????????????? Now you have readily accepted the claim that many branches in finically well off countries, the USA and UK included, have a surplus as of today even without selling literature for 20 years. Focus now.... those two claims are mutually contradictory. Disavow one so i can at least pretend to follow along.
I do promise to continue, maybe later tonight, more likely tomorrow. Windmills must be tilted and all that...

Slim, i swear your cognitive dissonance is working overtime. You never even hinted that the wt sold books to other branchs in any of your dozens of posts on the 3 threads youve started regarding the wt finical crisis and its rediculious to even suggest that “other branchs” were what you meant. You flatly outlined that by withdrawing services (publications) jand by removing the upfront cost to pubs, they no longer donated enough to cover expenses. Period. You said it 10x at least. You have now accepted a third hand report that many branches have a surplus dispite not selling the literature and cutting way back on what they print.

Make up your mind. We’ve gone round and round and im frankly dizzy. Its like trying to nail down water... but discussions with cult members usually are.
Just admit you are cherry picking evidance that you like and that supports your HOPE that the org hs money woes and will therefore change. Slim... pay attention.... you just accepted a report (third hand at best) that the org has a surplus, today, right now, in many countries with NO literature sales. Your whole basis for saying they were done was you couldnt understand how they were making it with no literature sales.... please attempt to reconcile those two opposing points of view.
td... i cannot and will not theorize about what specific mechanisms the wt would use to enforce tithing because i dont think it would be nessary to enforce much. Simple cult fear and peer presure forces dubbies to do all kinds of things evem now that otherwise reasonable people wouldnt do. They shun mothers fathers and children over man made rules! They willingly die by refusing standard medical treatment! How hard is it believe that they would donate a percentage of their income for god sake??

Slim.. im getting dizzy trying to keep with your ever evolving stance on the orgs status... first it was “ they are going to collapse at any minute”... then collapse in 10 years... then maybe in a generation, back and forth between imminent and decades a few times, all the while saying you think they are in trouble because the rubber faced clown lett said so on a broadcast.
now we get a post where someone claims that a few branches, including the US, are still making money (WITHOUT LITERATURE SALES!!!!!) and you believe it.
for god sake slim, of course the richest countries on the world have membership that carries the org. Of course they do. I bet japan and other first world nations are fine as well but wernt mentioned in this third hand account. Your willingness to believe this is proof of just how unconvinced you really are of your position and frankly just how little you have considered it.
You argue for days that literature sales are 100% necessary to make people donate but you one third hand account saying no the us still makes money and you without hesitation accept it. You would be worthless in a court of law.
