Tight pants tony. I want to see him realize he isnt one of christs brothers. I want to watch him realize him realize his short life has been wasted in service to a cult. To see him realize hes a nobody with no prospects. I want to see hin admit his self righteous pompous verbal deification was all misguided and ill informed.

Nicolas King: JW celebrity and example of hypocrisy
by neat blue dog innicolas king frequently sings with the watchtower chorus and had a supporting role in the dvd released at the 2014 convention.
(he's on the bottom row, second from the right.).
but he also is a jazz singer, traveling constantly performing at concerts, casinos, charity events, even a brief appearance on the tonight show.

Wow great great thread! Missed this on its first go round.
Indeed no character assignation. This totally the borg. Little kids cant play violin or anything for that matter, but they use this guy in a special capacity? Hypocrisy indeed.

JWs + Chronic Illness
by Cimarrona ini once asked my dad why, with all the power the wt insists on having so much control over its adherents' lives, they don't provide information about healthy eating habits or, like the adventists, wilderness training.
i mean, the gb encourage people to remain poor, and poverty is known to correlate with health outcomes, particularly those that are diet related.
i'd say most witnesses i knew over the age of 40 were overweight, had high blood pressure, heart problems, gastrointestinal issues, one kind of cancer or another (no doubt a result of eating their feelings if you ask me).

How do they get away with "New Light"?
by moreconfusedthanever inone thing that bothers me greatly is the fact that they can change their policies and beliefs and just say its "new light" and no one bats an eyelid.. there are many scriptures such as isaiah 40:8 "the word of god will last to time indefinite.
" or hebrews 6:18 "it is impossible for god to lie".
if he is "spirit directing" the borg then there should be no need for new light..

I know its hard to accept but it can summed up in one phrase:
Its a cult.
they can do or say whatever they want and get away with it in the eyes of their membership because the membership believes they need the org to stay in touch with god.

Your worst convention experience.

I read through these and really see a different side of conventions. As a teenager in a metropitain area it was always fun. We never had to travel and it was relaxing weekend where not much was expected... got to work with friends doing ‘grown up’ things and felt useful. I can definitely see the other side through some of these experiances... i never had a negative experiance (although they did grow tedious as i got older) until this year.
its not “bad” as far as some of the others expressed here but it left a bad taste for me personally. Ive long since stopped going to meetings although i still have a very few people who call me a friend dispite my beard and lack of care for the org. I ended up having to drop off my daughter at the DC this year (not my fsv choice but a long discussion). when i approached the venue in Richmond va i ended up having to carry her suit case to the coliseum. Besr in mind i spent a decade as an elder with these people. I spent longer as a ms. I gave talks in that very venue. I worked shoulder to shoulder with the clowns who are ‘attendants’ and was off and on the head of “obervation” (the jw word for security).
So as i walk up, carying my daighters suit case, dressed in a suit myself for what ots worth, i am immediately approached by a clown (who knows me!) and asked “do you need help finding a seat?” Bear in mind im outside. As in full on outside the venue, close to 500 feet from the first door. I roll my eyes as i know the jw vernacular and I Conducted the meeting that inteoduced that phrase many years ago. Dumbass. Whatever. I roll my eyes and say no and keep walking. He panics and pulls his phone out. This guy knows me, keep in mind.
I dont want to walk in and deal with this shit on any level. I try to txt my daighter and get her to come meet me and retrieve her suit case so i can get the hell on with my day... shes not responding. I managed to get a hold of someone who saw where they were sitting... sigh... ok fine. I walk in and start to head around to where i think i will find her... i am immediatetly surrounded by 7 “brothers” FIVE OF WHOM KNOW ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I give them a look of ‘really boys’? And one of them looks at the others and says “oh i know him, hes ok”. Meanwhile two other people dragging suitcases go by without a word....
i get the security thought process but for fuck sake but really... they know me. Personally. This was so goddamn necessary. And what a way to be welcoming to someone who may have been a visitor.... i admit it wasnt a big deal but to be surrounded and treated like a criminal or a terrorist...? I will never set foot at a DC again and if i can get my kids out of if i damn sure will. Fucking asshats

How Many Witnesses Would Really Take Blood?
by minimus inup until the very end, my mother refused blood.
it didn't matter if it was a blurred line or not, the bible says "no blood"!
i wonder if she was in the minority, in her thinking.

In answer to the original question i think its a case of more would accept than the org would like to admit but nowhere near as many as you would think.
