many people point to the irrationality in the depiction of god by the religions and their scriptures, hence jump into the bottomless pit of atheism.

in either camp, god is not a factor because religion is only a means that misrepresents god, hence religionists themselves are atheists (literally, those who live without god).

it is like saying there exists no earth because you found out your friend who taught earth is flat is wrong; or it is like saying mathematics itself is wrong because you found out your mathematics teacher made a mistake.

And to further echo the points made by others, your anology is terribly flawed.

You seem to assume that “math” or ”mathematics” is a set of established facts taught by wrote and that you can compare god to those facts in so much as god is a set of facts and that an innacurate teacher could misrepresent the facts but not change them.

math is the study of objects and their relationships. There are accepted premises and those proofs are demonstrated and demonstrable.... but the field of math and mathematics is ever growing and ever evolving.

God has no proofs, nothing that can be demonstrated or demonstrable. Nothing that can be successfully tested and, as every math teacher says every class “show your work”.

Belief in god is all feeling and intuition.

Prove otherwise and i will believe.

He sounds like every other minister in every other religion. In fact hes fairly dull and uninspired. If you played that in court the jury would fall asleep.

Dont let your apostate hate blind you to reason. Record that type of talk all you want, no court in any western land would view that as extremist or dangerous. The real danger in the watchtowers language is always hidden from the public. Its the words between the lines, the actions encouraged before and after the meetings, the implied directions that all witnesses understand.

that talk is proof of you seeing what you want to see and nothing more. The calm directions from the chairmen before hand are proof that jw’s are trying to avoid conflict.

I find myself in the distastful postilion of having to slow clap once again for idiot apostates doing everything they can to prove just how rabid and stupid they can be in pursuit of self gratifying protest.

Deceptive comments or lies that you have heard from platform or brothers & sisters?

ok, so what are the most deceptive comments that you have heard from your experience in congregations?.

my top three are;.

1) service overseer during the ’ how did we do?’ annual talk, twisted the figures to such an extent that it looked like the congregations ministry was in tip-top shape.

Thats an interesting attempt to belittle the audience, admitting you (the speaker) are a moron. Vw/porsche never hid where they put the engine. It wasnt a secret. Its also not a trunk in rear engine mount vehicle, its an engine compartment.

What it really seems to me is to be the all too often used attempt at “folksy” wisdom, an appeal to what seems to be “common sense” but what is actually the speaker admitting they didnt know something obvious or they think the audiance didnt (and likely did). Its was always irritating. When done well by a professional comedian (see larry the cable guy) its funny. When moron jw speakers try it, its generally trite and zzzz inspiring.

God im glad not to be subjected to that nonsense anymore.

"keith"he was an elder, got df'd, lost his wife, got reinstated and last i heard started pioneering!so i see him as i'm walking to my parking spot.. i stop, look him straight in the face and yell from 20 feet away, "you're in a cult.

How do JWs pronounce COBE?

when i was a witness, we had presiding overseer, and would say p-o for short.

do they spell it out when they say cobe or do they say it with as a word?

Are Beards becoming more acceptable due to decline in membership?

i noticed a young brother with a beard being given more privelages within our hall.

when he first grew his beard, he lost his privelages.

but more and more recently he has been helping out a lot more.. the cobe is old school and a stickler for rules, but with the hall becoming more empty these days, and the need for young brothers, he seems to have relaxed on this particular watchtower/man made rule.

as i travel the halls of power in dc (a lowly utility man mind you) EVERYONE seems to have a beard of some sort. The only exception being career polticians... hmm... i wonder if theres some sort of correlation...

what i find most hilarious is that instead of getting out in front of a small and insignificant issue they insist on being like “Rehoboam” the fictional biblical charater who followed the bad advise of his peers and decided to be more harsh than his father.

the current gb seem intent on being more harsh than the previous version. The problem for them is that on issues so stupid as beards young men just wont follow in the same droves as before. Its too easy to see jesus and every other man in the bible depicted with a beard and see thats its not gods rule but mens.

However i applaude tight pants and crew and hope they keep it up. The more douche they are the more people leave
