You are correct. Nobody cares. The jw’s are a paltry 8 million world wide. They are important only to us because we once shared their pov. Outside of that i wouldnt give one single damn either.

Massive hints against alcohol

in the most recent assembly there were several heavy hints about not drinking alcohol at all.

saying that it doesn't give a good witness or would stumble others.. is this a new "unwritten directive?.

I do recall at a District Convention about 10 years ago a dramatization of a couple who moved into a congregation that needed help. The couple discussed how they got some raised eyebrows from brothers/sisters who came over for dinner when they saw the couple's wine rack. The couple decided to get rid of it because they didn't was to "stumble" anyone in their new congregation.
i remember that as well! In the end, the bible talks about drinking somewhat favorable in some key passages. They wont shut it down completely, too many dubbies need to drink to cope with the cognitive dissonance.

so i've been out since my mid teens.

never baptised and consider myself among the lucky ones as it meant i could still have a normal(?

) relationship with my parents who are both still in.. jump forward 14 years or so to last night.

Short answer: i would say no. Your fine. You never know what question or what point will open the door for someone to see the real truth. I wouldnt push it until hes ready for more but i wouldnt worry that you said too much. Its a process, not a one time event :)
