  Nephew’s JW Fiancée Begins Conversion to Judaism Due to Passover Date

  it’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).

  this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.

  these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

  Simon, i wont provoke anything more i just found it hilarious that she has now three times stormed off in a huff vowing to not come back, the when she does she has some wild story about someone “calling” her to come make a post on the forum... she had to say it was a phone call because she claimed to be shutting down the email associated with this forum in the post i quoted above.

  And you nailed it when you said if someone dosent agree they are persecuting her.

  I will leave it alone from here out, its not the point of the thread anyway... honestly, for whatever its worth, i enjoyed your thoughts on the book Jonah, midge. I never considered it in the light you suggested but it makes a certain sense.

  *edit* just followed simons link.... midge has turned out to be a genuine troll. Alas!

  Oh my we have a new poster... welcome rabbi midge! We had a poster who used a very similar name and avatar, but she left, forever, or so she said.

  I have shut off my email connection with this site. I cannot read your further replies to me, nor will I. I am not coming back to post ever again or read any further replies because you people are not tolerant and some are just having sport with my words. You judge all religion by your limited experience with the Jehovah's Witnesses, and so Jews get the same treatment too.
  I am sure ego will keep some of you answering back to me in further replies, but I won't be reading. That will show how badly and ridiculously ego has overtaken some of you. Who are you replying to? Not me. I am leaving, not in a huff, but because apparently some Jehovah's Witnesses are just as hard to deal with in and outside their religion.   married in victoria moved back to western australia to start our lives far away from her parents as possible.. two kids, son 37 yrs old, daughter 34. both are married and still jws.

  they raised my two younger brothers and me in the “truth”, and convinced some of their own siblings to join as well.

  i married pretty early, raised two of my own in the “truth”, sad to say.

  my mother introduced me to her jw world when i was 12. i had to attend the weekly book study....boring!!!!

  plus the disney tv show was on tuesday eve 8 to 9 and once a month they did a space show......no matter how hard i tried couldn’t get out of that bk study.

  tell us a little about yourself and your family.. i was born and raised in southern california, with a brief stint with parents as need-greaters in central america.

  my parents accepted a study in the d2d work, i believe my father was interested in the revolutionary aspect of the religion, and my mom said she wanted to learn the bible.

  they were baptized in 1937 i think, and attended the one and only los angeles kh at the time.

  when i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.

  a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.

  again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

  advice please/data protection

  i have just received an email from an elder's wife regarding the new data protection laws.

  between the lines it sounds like she has been asked to contact me.. she says they 'don't want to leave me out' so they want me to fill out the form as 'i'm still part of the congregation'.

  also, my blood card needs updating, apparently.. the elder in charge will be in contact.. obviously, i'm not doing either, but what do i do?

  Just to go along with blues brother, this is a box ticking exercise for the local boys at the direction of the branch. It will fade away in a month or two as the hamster wheel spins on. There is always some form or some report they need to file and they will go away.
