  You just proved Flipper's point, Morpheus. Those two guys were angry at what they perceived as injustice and imbalance between the haves and have nots. They felt that they had a right to something that they were ultimately denied.

  That is exactly not what flipper meant. Not even close. Flipper was taking his standard social justice warrior stance and trying to draw some rich/poor parallel, not some ‘have a girl/not have a girl’ comparison. Your explanation makes zero sense.

  Why are there so many dislikes for Flipper's comment? He's absolutely right. Just because you don't want to believe something doesn't magically make it false. That's EXACTLY what the Watchtower does when it allows pedophiles to remain in good standing in the organization while shunning the victims. They don't want to believe the horrible truth, ergo, it CAN'T be true.

  Like wise, just you believe something to be true dosent make it so. I gave evidence supporting the baseless nature of flippers conclusion. Also, when you pull the “your just like the wt!” card, you have as much as admitted you have no point and no idea what to say other than reach for what you percieve to be the worst insult you can think of. You would be better served setting aside your emotions and thinking things through with just a bit of dispassionate logic.

  @wasanelder- i saw an interesting article deal with the “why” aspect. I didnt agree with the ultimate conclusion but the insight on basic motivations was interesting

  It's not the media. It's because of the inequality and frustration in society between the haves and the have nots . It's the sickness in society where youths abandoned by non existent support systems fall through the cracks in this world and take their anger out in violent ways.

  Completely false. The last two shooters were young men spurned by young ladies and they delt with it in the worst way imaginable. None of the school shooters has been poor or underprivledged. Thats part of what makes it so unreal, theres no backround of poverty and abuse.

  according to the bible teach book on page 78, it says, “since the days of the apostles, god has been selecting faithful christians in order to complete the number 144,000”.

  With due respect, Wt to my knowledge has never publicly addressed the issue what happens to the billions that took the bread and the wine, but forgot that they should have stopped at 144 000.

  Like wise, with respect, they have addressed it every day since their inception. I have no idea what “billions” of partakers you could mean. The sum total of all witness to ever live isnt a billion let alone the comparative few have partaken. The org teaches nobody outside is saved so you cant mean all other nominal christians who partake.

  All that said, my remarks stand regarding the earthly hope as taugh by jw’s. The numbers dont add up from any perspective, no matter how you slice it, on the heavenly hope.

  for those who don't know , there is an ex-jw "activist" in the north of england called mark who demonstrates outside kingdom halls , focusing on the child abuse issue and similar topics.

  he regularly updates his visits on his youtube channel , which has gained something of a cult following .

  occasionally ( albeit less frequently , as he is now well known ) he gets into the kh & shouts and disrupts the meeting.

  Picketting outside a kh is pointless but also not something i would view as agressive..

  interrupting meetings? My negative views on that sort of jackassery are well documented... i would add this: if someone had ever tried that crap, even when i was pimo, i would have beat the hell out of him. When someone is willing to violate societal norms to that degree (aggressively interrupting a church service) they must be considered a danger and it must be assumed that they will go futher with their anti social behavior.

  he needs professional help, not money.

  The reality is we dont know how much cash they have sent to Brooklyn... er warwick. I bet their goal is to have branches work like local kh and keep essentially bare minimum funds on hand. Its paints a bad picture but its only a small sliver. Until the day comes that we see the full picture you cant claim to know it all

  contrary to claims by american sociologist rodney stark who predicts strong future growth for jehovah's witnesses, voas shows that jehovah's witnesses' efforts at recruiting new members have become increasingly unsuccessful over the past few decades: the rate of increase has steadily declined, and the number of hours each publisher must preach to produce an extra convert has gone up substantially.

  voas suggests a reason for the stagnation may be that there is a natural limit to the number of people in a given population that are susceptible to conversion to sectarian groups like jehovah's witnesses - the 'carrying capacity' of the population, and that the limit has largely been reached.

  There is the rub for wt, although they deny there was an Earthly Calling before 1914-18

  False, they do not deny an earthly hope prior to 1918. They believe anyone faithful from abel until jesus death had an earthly hope. From jesus death until just before 1935 was all heavenly. Since 1935(ish) both existed.

  That said, the numbers in no way add up. Far far more than 144k faithful in 1900 years. That rediculious teaching never made sense and they realized it in the 1930’s, thus the up ‘othersheep/great crowd’ bail out.
