I recall them saying “mentally diseased”. Not exactly the same thing but not any better, if you ask me.

Lawsuits For Dismissal From Corporation With Best Years Of Service No Benefits Under Required Signing Of Vow To Poverty
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think this type of lawsuit might win against the watchtower corporation because it is such a inhuman act against a loyal long time full time service member.. portugal might have a serious case against the corporation for not taking care of it's elderly full time service members reguardless of any absolution of responsibility by forced signing of a vow of poverty..

Can you expand on the theme please
the watchtower forced its member to sign a vow of poverty, and that means any type of benefits to their elderly people?
(while the goberning body members wear a 25 thousand rolex as a nomal thing? No no thats not at all the situation. The reference is to bethel members who sign a vow of poverty to avoid the org paying unemployment taxes and wages.
And ive never seen them wear Rolexes. Also submariners (the watch they appear to wear a knock off version of) dont cost 25k.

Can you disassociate on your last judicial committee for apostasy?
by jwdoctrine inhi guys, i have been summoned to a judicial committee for apostasy.
i'm going to disassociate anyway but i don't want to miss the fun .i'm thinking of handing my letter of dissociation on the night of the committee.do you think this is a good idea?.
as i said i have already made my mind up.

The announcement is still the same and they will tell "everyone" you were disfellowshipped for apostasy regardless of a last minute DA.
X2
No need to write to the members of the congregation.a mass text will do
that is.... a pretty good idea. It shows up to everyone at the same time and thus nobody can warn anyone else not to read it. If your going to burn bridges you at least know everyone saw the message. Make it thoughtful and not bitter sounding. It may ring with some of those that see it.

Suicides
by new boy ini have been on the phone the last to two weeks calling people i've known over the last forty years most of who are still jehovah's witnesses.
some of these people who didn't know i was "out" talked to me and some who knew i was "out" still talked to me.
some of the those people are even elders.. by book new boy will be dedicated to all the people who have killed themselves because of being a jehovah's witness or knowing others who were jehovah's witnesses.

I can understand the concern with gathering names of those who commited suicide and attributing the cult as the motive in a book dedication.
However, when did it become against the rules to promote or mention a book on this site? It gets done ALL the time. Otwo and terry have done it over and over. Not a complaint, btw, as i think terry is a writer of superior talent and skill and otwo has always struck me as reasonable fellow with an interesting view point, but its done ALL the time. Dubstep promotes his pod cast with every single post. Its called “shunned” in case you missed the first 50k times he mentioned it. Not a complaint with respect to dub either. Those stories are important to get out and hearing them first hand in an interview, spoken by the individual effected seems a valuable thing... but how is new boys book any different? Hes posted dozens of excerpts over the past few years and its all legitimate jw experiances, exactly like terrys book.
If the line is asking for suicide names, no argument. If its promoting works by exjw’s then there more one person effected.

Is the blood doctrine idolatrous?
by Fred Franztone ini'm not a god-fearing individual, but when i was still a believer, many suns ago, it occurred to me that the blood doctrine had an idolatrous foundation; it was one of the initial anti-wt thoughts in my mind that eventually led to me leaving the religion and ultimately (and somewhat ironically) to atheism.. the bible says that one should 'abstain from blood', and putting aside whether this is a mistranslation of bloodshed (which i've never bought), the wt are quite picky about which commandments they follow; they don't observe the sabbath, and they've even provided justifications for lying, so why the preoccupation with the blood commandment?
and why is it so serious a matter that it's a disfellowship-worthy offence?
the justification i was always given by elders was that blood is sacred, it's a symbol of life, and whilst the commandment to abstain from blood clearly meant that one shouldn't eat it, it's not unreasonable on the surface to extrapolate it to include transfusions (although some would disagree).. the problem with this reasoning of course is that by abstaining from blood transfusions, death from massive blood-loss is a possibility, unlike with abstaining from eating it.

While i agree with your basic premise im not sure id call it idolatrous. It is certainly ill-conceived and flies in the face of everything jesus taught.
consider: jesus said it was ok to heal a man on the sabbath, breaking a direct law from god about “ working” on that day. He also pointed out that they would save a sheep or a bull that fell into a pit on the sabath, clearly involving work, but the life of the animal called for it. He then added how much more so a mans life.
But the blood prohibition is some absolute? Never made sense to me and was clearly in contradiction to jesus own teachings.... if you care about that kind of thing.
Also td’s comments regarding it being a dietrary issues also are in line with logic. It wasnt an available medical practice. It was on the same level as not boiling a kid in its mothers milk, also a dietary restriction jw’s dont care about, along with more than 600 other misaic laws they dont follow. Its all pick and choose with their religion.

192-page books
by Fred Franztone inthis is my 192nd post, so i thought it'd be fitting to ask a somewhat banal question which i've occasionally pondered over the years.
does anyone know what's behind the wt's penchant for 192-page books?
is there some kind of logistical reason for this?
-
_Morpheus
I always heard the same. That it was considered optimal size vs production cost and it was specifically 192 because of bindery equipment.

Did you see the net flix show about killers on death row called “i am a killer”? Really well done crime and punishment style documentary. No commentary or politics injected, just interviews that leave you to come to your own conclusion.
