Normally, and i say normally, i would call you a kook or a conspiracy theorist and dismiss you abruptly....

However, this is interesting for a specific reason. The bodys of elders are directed, when introducing speakers at the circuit level and regional level as well as when announcing appointments even on the congregation level, to use full legal names. Its very specific.

It was also somewhat inconvenient for me because, for as long as i can remember, i had been addressed by middle name. My father and I share my first name. To avoid confusion i always went by my middle name. So when this whole use “you must use the full name” thing came to pass about 10 years ago it caused no end of confusion when introducing me. Even the night i was appointed as an elder, people thought it was my father. Who wasnt even in our congregation.

So why do those two clowns get away with it? I dont think they are pedos or hiding from anything in such a high profile position... but it smacks of the sort of “we are above the rules” crap i hate.

Ok leon, that makes sense. I continue to point out that they already stopped handing out hard copies at the rc but i think some have been away for so long they cant adjust to that, having never seen it...

if it is an attempt to synchronize release, and that makes more sense than anything i have thought of, it is, i think, a bad move. It devalues the RC. People will stop caring pretty quickly.

Db, your missing the point. It IS a big deal, but only because its when they choose to release it.

I cant buy the editing excuse. They have 50+ years of practice with this. They know how to edit and prepare books for rc release dates.

And again the money thing dosent wash either. They already were not releasing hard copies at conventions. This is a weird weird move. The annual meeting is indeed invitation only and it wasnt simulcast to all halls. Why release these things so quietly?

I am open to all suggestions but so far nothing makes sense beyond a move away from the importance of the rc.

Yes steve, apparently they released a new eziekel book.... at the annual meeting instead the rc.

so here is my thought, after more pondering than it deserved... maybe this is the move to get rid of or significantly change the RC. Spend a few years releasing the publications at the annual meeting and the rc is no longer an important thing for the masses, then Boom! Drop or change the rc and nobody cares. No new releases there anyway.

Navy, i dont disagree in principle that both sides are interested their own preservation and power above all else. But its trite and worn, on this forum at least, to use the cult as the excuse for political interest. Millions of people who never heard of jw’s are politically minded.

Dont be intellectually lazy.

We care because we have reasoned and have a view because of that reason. If your conclusions are different then lets talk. In liu of that, playing the cult card gets you no points.

Pete, the reason i tend to doubt that is because this is what they do. They write and release every year at the same time for almost a 100 years. They didnt forget deadlines all of sudden. This a calculated move and i just cant see why. Maybe nobody rational can. Maybe they are a bag of cats

I dont want to beat a dead horse and especially if im making a moutain out of a mole hill (lots of meaphors), but this kind of a big deal and money has nothing to do with it... whats the play for them here?

But the annual meeting wasnt a world wide event so, in effect, they had only to give out 2-3000 hard copies. If that was the consideration why not do what they have done in the recent past and simply release it digitally at the rc’s and then let congregations order hard copies later? Am i over thinking the change in tactics?

The main draw for the district/reginal convention was the new releases. If they are now making a habbit of dropping new releases at the annual meeting, whats the end game? Why devalue the rc but yet not highlight the annual meeting? We have long decried the gb as clueless but i refuse to believe they they are stumbling around. There has to be some reason behind this but escapes me...
