Now Even JW Men Are Going To Die At The Big A

so this weekend there was a part about not following jesus at a distance.

the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.

he said that the only way to live through the big a was to follow jesus closely.

Death,....that's all they've got to threaten people with? Instant destruction?
How about a precarious life of never knowing if or when I might lose my children due to a disfellowshipping? How about a life of being forced to do stuff I don't want to do, and having to do it CONSTANTLY, RELENTLESSLY? How about a life where I can't speak my thoughts and opinions for fear of being 'turned in'? How about a life where myself and my children are supposed to follow one infinitesimally defined path, unable to freely express our individualities, having to stick to someone else's definition of 'proper' OR ELSE?
Oh, you can't threaten you will do this to me, because that is what you ARE, that is what living with you IS ACTUALLY LIKE. Well, that's worse than instant destruction. And you will NEVER be in control of my life again. Your threats of death are nothing compared to what living under your control was like. And I'm out of it. So death is all you've got? When I read this, I imagined Winston Smith telling this to O'brien during on of his torture sessions.

This really spoke to my heart, and shared this comment with my sister, who is also aware of TTATT and expresses her disapproval more-so than I do. Indeed, it's true that death means nothing when the alternative is essentially a life of being a puppet with no control and the suppression of individuality. I agree with you, I'd rather die than live like that, much less forever with others who are fake. "You can only find true friends in the organization." Hah!

If so, then why is it that scientists do not loudly oppose the abortion of fetuses with multiple genetic defects? After all there could be a new forward step in the making. Why does science in practice not support survival of the fittest and oppose vaccination in order that the species may be enhanced. I can only assume it is because when it comes to evolution science speaks out of one side of its mouth but in practice out of the other.

Perhaps because humans, as a species, have evolved enough to care for each other, which ultimately means they have the morality that convinces them that killing other humans for the sake of evolving the human race is not exactly the nicest thing to do. Believing in evolution based on the mountains of evidence doesn't mean you should support the continued evolution of the human race at the cost of other humans' lives, it simply means you understand how life forms became the way they are today based on the information that is available.

Dating

i have been brought up as a jehovah witness and want to date this boy who isn't a jehovah's witness.

we have talked about the trials we could go through and i was wondering because i am a unbaptised publisher could i date him without any consequences?

Only if you want to be judged by every JW that you know, especially behind your back. It would probably thus strain any relations you have with any JWs.

The UN Security Council is a disgrace

the syrian conflict and lack of action by the un basically proves to me the un is a failed model.. that prick bashar's army is dropping barrels bombs on schools, hospitals, killing little children etc, but russia and china with their vested geo-political interests just veto any resolution proposed by the un security council to intervene.. circa 5 years of suffering by millions of women and children living in deprivation and misery in refugee camps, with all manner of atrocities and war crimes still occurring in syria itself.

all the meanwhile this disgusting asshole bashar and his military cronies continue in power and live in luxury.. it absolutely breaks my heart and makes me sick to my stomach.

i don't give a toss about all the rationalisations and counter-arguments people may make defending the bashar regime.. as far as i'm concerned, the un security council is a broken and failed entity, a spineless, essentially corrupt model with grossly conflicting vested interests that are blockading fundamental moral and humane principles and obligations enshrined in it's charter.

Yeah, the WTS would probably try and retcon WW3 into their eschatology.
Not sure just how they'd spin it, though.

They'll probably be trying to secure their neutral position and think the witnesses who get persecuted because of it are proof that the big A has started (much like how many were concerned WW2 might be the end). Maybe they'll teach that the final peace treaty will result in a ban on religion (assuming the war resulted after something that involved religion heated up). This was actually an old theory of mine that I came up with when I still believed in the "truth".

Indeed, the UN's model is less than exemplary. Unfortunately, no change can be made with the UN because any change of how the UN Security Council runs, like making it only possible to veto by a majority vote, will be vetoed by any power currently in the Council. The United Nations hold almost no purpose now, except that of providing a single place for world powers to show off how selfish they are. As much as I would hate for a third World War to happen, perhaps the UN will suffer the same fate as the League of Nations if it does. This will surely bring JWs around the world to try and deal with the bunch their panties had become. That is, assuming the GB doesn't release "new light".

Do You Think Humanity Will Ever Be Completely Free From Religion?

i realize that many here still have a form of spirituality or faith, and i mean no disrespect to those individuals.

i suppose i am posting this question to those, like myself, who have come to the conclusion that religion in general is a major hindrance to the progress of our species and needs to be put aside so that we can advance to our full potential.

so my question is, do you think this will ever actually happen, and how do you think we can get there?

Question for people who believe in Evolution

though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.

im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

Evolution and the Big Bang theory are really two separate subjects. For all we know, the Universe could have been created, yet life could have evolved on Earth separate of the influence of a creator.

To answer your question, there are many theories. There's a theory that the point of singularity existed forever until the energy decided to explode. Another one, that I personally prefer to accept, is that time itself only started at the point of the Big Bang. What happened before, God knows. ;)

As you mentioned, the United Nations doesn't hold NEARLY enough power to even think of doing such a thing. On top of that, even if it did, it wouldn't be in their interests. Religion is indeed too ingrained into the hearts of too many people, so any government supporting the end of religion would be making a horrible mistake. Even people not in any religion may oppose any governmental restriction on religion. It isn't about restricting organized religion, it's about people's rights to organized religion. Everyone without distinction is entitled to that. No government should be able to do that, and if the people let any government ban organized religion, then the people have given the government too much power.
