The UN Security Council is a disgrace
by fukitol inthe syrian conflict and lack of action by the un basically proves to me the un is a failed model.. that prick bashar's army is dropping barrels bombs on schools, hospitals, killing little children etc, but russia and china with their vested geo-political interests just veto any resolution proposed by the un security council to intervene.. circa 5 years of suffering by millions of women and children living in deprivation and misery in refugee camps, with all manner of atrocities and war crimes still occurring in syria itself.
all the meanwhile this disgusting asshole bashar and his military cronies continue in power and live in luxury.. it absolutely breaks my heart and makes me sick to my stomach.
i don't give a toss about all the rationalisations and counter-arguments people may make defending the bashar regime.. as far as i'm concerned, the un security council is a broken and failed entity, a spineless, essentially corrupt model with grossly conflicting vested interests that are blockading fundamental moral and humane principles and obligations enshrined in it's charter.

Indeed, the UN's model is less than exemplary. Unfortunately, no change can be made with the UN because any change of how the UN Security Council runs, like making it only possible to veto by a majority vote, will be vetoed by any power currently in the Council. The United Nations hold almost no purpose now, except that of providing a single place for world powers to show off how selfish they are. As much as I would hate for a third World War to happen, perhaps the UN will suffer the same fate as the League of Nations if it does. This will surely bring JWs around the world to try and deal with the bunch their panties had become. That is, assuming the GB doesn't release "new light". -

Do You Think Humanity Will Ever Be Completely Free From Religion?
by InjusticeSystem ini realize that many here still have a form of spirituality or faith, and i mean no disrespect to those individuals.
i suppose i am posting this question to those, like myself, who have come to the conclusion that religion in general is a major hindrance to the progress of our species and needs to be put aside so that we can advance to our full potential.
so my question is, do you think this will ever actually happen, and how do you think we can get there?

I'm sure humanity will go extinct before it'll be completely free. -

Question for people who believe in Evolution
by ttte36 inthough school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.
im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

but also, someone can explain to me why there is matter floating around in space to be a big bang to begin with, where did it come from? lol,
Evolution and the Big Bang theory are really two separate subjects. For all we know, the Universe could have been created, yet life could have evolved on Earth separate of the influence of a creator.
To answer your question, there are many theories. There's a theory that the point of singularity existed forever until the energy decided to explode. Another one, that I personally prefer to accept, is that time itself only started at the point of the Big Bang. What happened before, God knows. ;)

The Logisitcs of Destroying Organized Religion
by truthseeker inthey define babylon the great as the "world empire of false religion", and that jehovah god will use the united nations to turn on her.. .
the "keep on the watch" brochure says the following, regarding the destruction of babylon the great:.
"for our day, the bible forecasts that political governments, like a wild beast, will turn on "the harlot" and strip her naked, exposing her real .

As you mentioned, the United Nations doesn't hold NEARLY enough power to even think of doing such a thing. On top of that, even if it did, it wouldn't be in their interests. Religion is indeed too ingrained into the hearts of too many people, so any government supporting the end of religion would be making a horrible mistake. Even people not in any religion may oppose any governmental restriction on religion. It isn't about restricting organized religion, it's about people's rights to organized religion. Everyone without distinction is entitled to that. No government should be able to do that, and if the people let any government ban organized religion, then the people have given the government too much power. -

My Assembly Experience
by Clambake injw literally take forever to say nothing.
after a whole day of listening how to obtain peace , i am not sure if i obtain peace from obeying mosaic law, having a relationship to jehovah though jesus or be baptized and have a direct line to jehovah.
every speaker tries to out bore and contract the other one.

Just bumped into this...
by StarTrekAngel inthis is a phrase taken from the current wt magazine being studied.
someone already took it and ran with it, posting it as a banner in a pro-jw site called "i am proudly a jw".
it's in spanish, but you can look it up in the english version of the mag.

I read that during the meeting and exploded in anger. Fortunately, I wasn't visibly troubled. -

Service meetings - "God loves us and that's why He sent us Jesus. Remember to learn to read well and act well in front of the congregation. Remember not to waste the householder's time, but remember to give them a magazine and tell them everything written in the Bible."
Sunday meetings - "The world is evil. God hates the world. God loves his people. God is represented by the perfect imperfect-humans in the Governing Body. Remember to follow their rules."

Getting JWs To Think By Using Their Own Tactics On Them.
by Island Man ini've been thinking that an effective way to expose the idiocy and vacuousness of jwism is to use it right back on them when they come to your door.
say you're a fader and you've moved to the territory of a different circuit where the jws there don't know your jw background.
when they come knocking at your door, just put on the jw mindset and pretend to yourself that the jws at the door are not jws but members of a "false religion.".

I gotta say, if you use this tactic, you might end up making them simply leave the door. I'm thinking that if you somehow are able to make them come back by saying that you're only "kidding", then you could justify it by saying "I just wanted to demonstrate how JWs like you defend their faith", and hopefully they'll pay enough attention to hear that, and you could make them think.
It may sound like nonsense, but being away from a JW mindset of a while made me forget how JWs think.

This Year's Memorial
by TD inperhaps i'm just getting older and crankier, but it really seems to me that the jw faith is deteriorating at an accelerated rate.. case in point: this year's memorial talk.
it was one of the most incoherent messes i've ever heard.
(and i've heard a lot of memorial talks over the last 50 years....).

It was quite lame. Our speaker said we'd do "exactly what the Bible tells us to do", read a scripture saying that we should eat the bread and drink the wine, but didn't. In fact, the only similarity I was able to notice was the presence of bread and wine and that we "prayed" before... well, before passing it around.
