Unfortunately this is so true

ok ...what am i missing here.
it seems to me every year that the dc was the place to bring out "new light?
" including a new and exciting book to sleep through study each and every week.
Draw close to Jehova is the book till mai (?) 2005 - half a chapter per week (about 10 paragraphs an hour).
frequently, the watchtower will quote church fathers to try to justify its cult-like version of christianity.
a typical.
example is a recent watchtower that cites tertullian as evidence that christians did not eat blood ( june 15, pg 29).. .
Thanks metatron,
that should clear the view about WT "authorities". If Tertullian is right at the one thing i should guess the other ideas also seems to be ok ... what a crap those WT writers do. The bad citations was a major point for leaving WTS for me.
Could you maybe provide the details of the current one about blood you mentioned?
just wanted to know if any of you have read the entire bible?
- i remember that it was mentioned in the congregation many times that this would be a requirement that we were to read the bible in its totality at least once and especially as elders!.
i myself never had the time (or energy) to read the scriptures from cover to cover.
DanTheMan
really really really old threads you're posting on here
But what's wrong with it to recycle old threads ... as long they are interesting?
(This posting is made of 100% recycled bits of eMail)

In 1998 i got a schedule to read the bible in one year as it is used at bethel - 15 Minutes each day. Starting that year i read the bible 5 times according to this schedule (ok sometimes some chapters behind but i was able to manage). Last year i stopped with it (wonder why)

good news for all mankind...it replaces the other one.
the message is in 100 languages.
Could someone with this new brochure maybe post the message? It would be interesting to see if there are any differences to the old one.
The message from 1984
Please Read This Message:YOU CAN LIVE FOREVER IN HAPPINESS ON EARTHIt does not seem possible to enjoy happiness on earth even for a short time. Sickness, aging, hunger, crime, insecurity and oppression often make life miserable. But there are good reasons for believing that it really is possible to live forever in happiness on earth.
What are these reasons? First, because Almighty God made the earth just perfect for us! Also, in the ancient and most widely believed holy book, the bible, he promises: "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." - Psalm 37:29.
Because God is Almighty we know he can bring this to pass. In fact, he also promises to d oaway with the causes of unhappiness: "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain anymore. The former things have passed away." - Revelation 21:4.
Would you like to learn more? I will be glad to obtain some Bible literature in your language, if that is possible, and return with it. It will give you confidence that you really can live forever in happiness on earth. Please give me your name. And kindly return this booklet to me for others to use. Thank you.
indeed, in his name nations will hope.
paragraphs 10-12.
paragraphs 16-17.
I liked these two points most
Some criticize, ridicule, or even?as Jesus warned?hate us. (Matthew 10:22)For what merit is there in it if, when YOU are sinning and being slapped, YOU endure it? . . . 1 PETER 2:20
Urijah was busy delivering warnings against Jerusalem and Judah?when King Jehoiakim ordered that Urijah be put to death, the prophet fled in fear to Egypt. That did not save him?brought back to Jerusalem, where he was killed. Now how is this any different than when David fled from King Saul. Was Urijah a coward and David a hero?
And regarding Paul
How would he counsel a brother (sister?) pursuing friendships with total strangers on the Internet?
I'm sure he would encourage to meet personally and share "the truth" ... let say on an apostata fest
more and more congregations seem to be adapting to low meeting attendance.
bookstudies can be more difficult to hold in personal homes because, if everyone shows up at once, the house may not.
be able to hold the attendance.
30 or more 'assigned' to the Kingdom Hall
as with ours - where we don't attend anymore - we heard that somtimes there is only the elder with his family instead of 30 people. Maybe due to this 'adapting' they where able to shut down the BS i left alone.
