So it is a matter of conscience but every JW knows how his conscience has to decide

OK for JWs to vote?
by davidsf inwhat's the society's latest teaching on voting?
is it a "conscience" matter or is it still forbidden?
i got into a discussion with a jw on another board and she says it may be ok to go into voting booth to avoid danger but it 3was forbidden to actually vote for a candidate.

w54 Since the Bible does not describe Jesus? facial appearance or indicate he had a beard of length
w68 Biblical evidence is the most reliable testimony to be found on this question
Did i miss something in this reasoning?

blondie it is a long time practice to use PCs for congregational matters. As a CBS servant i got once a month a printed summary of the FS report of those attending and the terrietory cards were oversight with a program. They wouldn't need to write it in a km if nobody does it

Hassan's "Releasing the Bonds"
by TallTexan infor those of you who have not read this book, i encourage you to immediately obtain a copy, especially if you still don't believe that jw's are a cult.
although inactive and filled with doubts about the organization for a number of years, i truly disregarded all thoughts of it as a 'cult'.
i figured that it was simply misguided men who thought they were doing the right thing.

Jehovah blesses his faithful cult members
by Nosferatu inremember when something good would happen to you, and another jw would say, "well, jehovah has surely blessed you!
" when i was on my way out, that really used to piss me off since i knew it was all crap.
no, jehovah didn't bless me by letting me find five bucks on the ground.. my mother told me, long after i left that jehovah must still be blessing me.

I wanted to work part time and after 2 years i was able to have a 4 day week work. Surely it was the bleesing of Jehovah since i wanted to use the time for "his work" - FS or visiting elderly sisters.
BUT it turned out it really was a blessing - because i took this time to study (on the internet) and this made me free.

Watchtower Lies
by Unclepenn1 ina jw i have been debating with (who is df'd by the way) gave me the go ahead to send to him what i would consider times where the wt has lied or been totally dishonest with the membership, or just in general.
does anyone have any clear cut quotes from the wt that are obviously deceptive?
i already sent him a lot of info about 1874/1914, and also about some other stuff.

My favorite from newer times is this:
*** w89 1/1 p. 12 "The Hand of Jehovah Was With Them" ***
How thrilling that must have been for Paul and Barnabas-sailing to their first foreign assignment! The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century.
(bound volume says: He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our day.)but you need to get a single magazine for the english version. In german (other languages?) it is even on the WT-CD!

You're Costa Rica!
You're about as peaceful as anyone on the planet, a real dyed-in-the-wool pacifist. And why not? No one really poses much of a threat to you and everything seems to work out, no matter how much violence and insanity rages all around you. So you relax and appreciate nature and culture while the rest of the world carries on their petty disagreements. If only everyone could follow your example... -

Can I withdraw a Disassociation?
by Woman know your place ini'm new to the site, and wonder can anyone advise me..... two years ago i decided to leave the jws, and when i met with the elders to inform them, they told me they had grounds to disfellowship me (i told them i doidnt believe in god and had slept with my boyfriend.....for full story see my profile).
at the time i thought that telling them would just mean that i could get on with my life and they would know that i was not a jw... i thought that you could only df a person who wilfully sinned against god.... well i didnt believe in god, so how could i wilfully sin against him?
anyway, as i said, the elders wanted to df me, and, not wanting to be seen as a sinner, i wrote a letter of disassociation detailing my reasons for not believing ahead of the dfing.. so did the elders have grounds to df me?

The only way would be to get reinstated, which could last very long! I was told by an exJW it would take in that particular congregation for this person FIVE years!
... or maybe the JWs you want to meet don't care about your status
