SheilaM,
Skepdic.com has several sections listing REAL SOURCES, such as, "essential books" and "skeptics biography". I think Brad suggested the website as an easily accessible starting point for information.

Are most people just plain stupid?
by logansrun inwhat an audacious question!
" wow, bradley -- how could you stoop to such levels?
do you consider most people as simple sleepwalkers through life not paying much attention to reason, logic, science, history and a desire to understand?

Valis,
Usually just online; I did college radio for three semesters. With each semester I became less rational in my arguments and more insulting. Basically I copied my style off of the right wing shock jocks and the religious retards. Those people insult rationality, I insult irrationality. -

I can't believe the the number of people that have contributed to this thread since I signed off yesterday!
Anyway, I realize that my comments are usually short and rude, but that's how I argue now. I've given up lengthy explanations, references, documentation, and all of that proof shit because it doesn't matter.
For years I have been trying to raise doubt in people's belief in god and spirits with philosophic and scientific arguments, but the reply I get from people is usually something like, "because it's in the bible, because god did it or that's what I believe." With those types of responses, what's the point in discussing it anymore?
To conclude, now I just insult people and tell them that their beliefs are stupid and as Brad stated "irrational."
Czarofmischief- I'm glad that you don't take all this bullshit seriously! -

A New View of the Trinity
by Eugene Shubert infor everyone's convenience, i've summarized my synthesis into a short number of postulates.
please tell me which of my propositions are provably false and therefore biblically inadmissible.. the godhead is a heavenly trio of three living persons: the father, the son, and the holy spirit (matthew 28:19, 3:13-17, 2 corinthians 13:14, ephesians 4:4-6, 1 peter 1:2 and revelation 1:4,5).the father is all the fullness of the godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight.the son is all the fullness of the godhead manifested (colossians 2:9 cf.
john 1:1).

I still agree with Brad. I think that anyone who believes in astrology, new-age beliefs, creationism, militant nationalism and any pseudoscience is stupid. Regardless of the condescending way czarofmischief responded to Brad, I think his argument is flawed. If an argument uses insults, it doesn't improve the arugment. I think czarofmischief is stupid for including god into his stupid beliefs. Does he believe god wrote books? Does he think god answers prayers? Does he think god does anything specific? If not, what the hell is the point of believing in god or including him in you abiogenesis beliefs?

Excellent stort IG! I had a similar christmas miracle with a pack of gum.
One snowy day on the way to work a homeless man asked me if I could "spare some change." Well, because of the overwhelming christmas spirit I felt, I decided to give the man $.50. I was in a cheery mood because I anticipated receiving a job promotion later that day. So, I walked into work, said hello to the usual people and I noticed my boss yelling at one of my coworkers in a distant office. This frightened me a little, so I said a silent prayer to jesus.
Later I found out that my boss was yelling over a case of very bad breath and to quote him, "Bad breath doesn't increase profits, does it?" I got a call from my secretary. I was getting nervous because I breathed on my hand and it smelled awful. Damn! I thought, "two onion bagels!" Her message was what I dreaded, yes, my boss wanted to talk to me.
There was no way I could see him in my present condition, so I raced down the hallway to a vending machine. "Shit! Where's my change? That damn homeless guy!" I could hear the phone in my office ringing. I had to go. So as a last resort I put my fingers into the change return slot. It had $.50. Not only was it the exact amount of money needed for a pack of gum, but also, the exact amount of money I gave to the homeless guy. Coincidence or Jesus?
I bought the gum, chewed it and walked confidently into my boss' office and received the promotion. He even complemented me on my breath. Jesus saved my job and I even scored a promotion. -

Brad, I agree. Like I said in a post a few days ago, people do what they have to do to survive, so an understanding of, for example, Biology is not required, so they don't study it. But your statement regarding pseudoscience is totally accurate. That's one major reason I think most people are stupid. It seems like real important questions and answers are ignored and almost baseless beliefs are taken as fact, such as, god creating the earth or prayer helping people. And those pseudoscientific beliefs are what make most people stupid.

Brad,
You have to understand that God made all people special in their own way. God views all people as intelligent and he proved this by sending his son to die and forgive us for our sins. You have to start looking for the individual qualities each and every human has. Remember that God is Love and he loves every human that has ever lived and that ever will live. He also has a plan for each human and through the power and saving grace of our lord Jeeeesssuss, he has a mansion awaitin' in heaven.
I'm kidding of course. Most people are stupid and more importantly most people are weak. -

I don't think we should give up praying ever...
by Singing Man ini tend to believe that god does hear prayers, he can ansure them in other planes of time that we don't understand and that we will be in latter in our life or possibly in some other dimension.
i do not think he gives us dead air space after we speak to him.
our request have far reaching implications for us beyond what can understand in our time line that we are living presently.

SingingMan, are you serious or are you being sarcastic? I'm a newbie, so I don't know you too well, that's why I'm wondering. Because if you're being sarcastic it's kind of funny, if you're serious, it's even funnier.
