  A few observations from the DC

  i have been reading over everyones posts from the dc and it made me remember a few things:.

  the drama: they definately were discouraging going to collage.

  timothy had a friend named jonathon that pursued "worldly goals"- getting an education, getting a good job and getting married and having kids.

  One more thing to account for:

  i was thinking today, another flip flop that effected many people and they never gave a good explanation for is the divorces caused by the "unnatural sex" explanation in the 70's.

  first it is a "no no" and you can get a divorce because of it to "it is still wrong but you can not get a scriptural divorce because of it".

  they sanctioned the breakup of marriages and then basically said "oops" we shouldn't have said that but don't criticize anyone who did it already and is remarried.

  Traveling Overseers- Extended Training

  i have heard that the co's and do's are being systematically called back to ny for extended training.

  now normally this is no big deal as they do go back from time to time for training but this time it is for a 8-9 week training course (without their wives).

  from what i have heard they are going to be emphasizing more oversite or control over the congregations from a circuit level (i am sure they are discussing other issues as well).

  Not enough reaching out

  the society has really been pushing hard lately (i know, like always) to do more and reach out.

  there is at least one reason for do this that i can think of.

  i have many friends around the country and they went to the elder school last year.

  Bible= publications

  i have never really noticed how much the society equates their literature with the bible.

  there is an interesting quote in the last paragraph of this week's bookstudy out of the worship the only true god book.

  the chapter deals with the issue of univeral sovereignty, it states "how vital it is that we cultivate the habit now of responding positively to whatever direction jehovah gives us, whether through his word or through his organization.

  Finally saying hello

  i have been lurking here for quite a while and have decided to officially introduce myself.

  i am still an active jw but i am in a holding pattern of sorts right now because of many of the things i have read on this form.

  they truely have been eye openers.
