i usually agree with everything Nos says about women/dating type stuff. but!!

Keep your hands to yourself. Let her touch you first, they will find an excuse to fix your tie or collar, tap your arm etc.
Here's something I actually disagree with. I always touch them first. Basically the same stuff. Very subtle, non-sexual touching. Touch her necklace and examine it, lightly touch her back when you're going through a doorway, etc. It shows them that you're comfortable around her, comfortable touching her, and she'll actually feel more comfortable with you. Works very well!

ew. i don't like people i don't know invading my personal space. if i already seriously like a guy, i'll forgive him for being too touchy-feely-in-my-facey. if i'm even the slightest bit iffy about him and he's touching my necklace (creepy!!) he's blown it and i'm creeped out.

Agreed. If the woman feels she is competing with other women, she'll work a lot harder for the man's attention. I actually fixed a date that was going bad by using this to my advantage.

no way, dude. this would totally piss me off and make me want to stab mister i-was-just-touching-your-necklace-and-now-i'm-flirty-all-over-other-girls in the eye with my salad fork. of course, i refuse to work for attention, mostly due to aforementioned total lack of extroversion, so maybe i'm just weird and don't listen to me. anyway, that is this insomniac's cent and a half.

while i was away on a recent road trip i had the opportunity to nip into a cinema to kill a couple of hours.

having see everything i wanted to see, during the week, i decided to watch the only thing that was starting at that time "lost in translation".

i didn't know anything about it, other than that it was going to help me bide my time, away from home.. i groaned inwardly, when i saw bill murray hit the screen, as i'm not especially a fan.. however, i was deeply moved by what was portrayed, along with the japanese neo-cultural explosion that was evidenced.. i hope this doesn't mean i'm reaching a mid-life crisis, however i found it profoundly disturbing.. http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2003-09-30/film_review2.html.

i signed up for a "yahoo personals" account a million years ago and get updates like berserk which i never read.

i never put my picture up and have never subscribed to their "expanded service" where you can actually contact the people that they match you up with.

anyway, sorry for randomly popping in and spreading my 'death to internet love' gloom. it's just a mood i've been in lately. i was talking with a friend of mine over the weekend and he was telling me about this new lexus advertisement that's a hologram, and it's some sort of shark that looks like it's going to pop out and bite you...like what that has to do with lexus i have utterly no clue...anyway...we were talking about how technology is just snowballing, and how the next generation of kids will have grown up without playing the old-school nintendo system (duck hunt and bubble bobble...awwww yeaaaaaaaah...good times) and there is all of this stuff that they'll grow up without...for christ's sake, kids these days don't even know what fraggle rock is...that is just a frickin crying shame!! and we were talking about how they're growing up playing video games that almost look cooler than real life, and pretty soon kids aren't even going to want to ride their bike to the park or make forts or treehouses anymore, because why would they venture outside where there are no ninjas kicking the crap out of eachother in vivid detail or hologram lexus sharks? and it just made me really sad. genuine interpersonal connection is so rare these days anyway...you have to wade through so much boring nonsensical crap to find it...and things like internet dating, etc, in my opinion, just get in the way. i guess i just want to revert back to simpler times, and i know that's impossible and it's sad as hell to me.

alright, here's my problem with it: it seems like more and more, people are completely tied down by technology. and it seems like the more they are tied to technology, the less the actually *connect* with one another. and this disconnectedness is more and more pervasive, and it's keeping people from experiencing something essentially human and i can't stand it. i guess it's sort of difficult for me to articulate....i don't know if that makes sense to anyone else or not.

i thought it was a pretty good movie.

holy crap. this movie was so amazing. i was so affected by it...after i left the theater i just thought about it for hours. it is AMAZING. the theme of human connection is one that's very important to me, and i thought this was rendered so beautifully as well. i know quite a few people that went and saw it and were underwhelmed...i have absolutely no idea how that could be.
