Freedom96 and I sound pretty similar. Born in, never judged anyone and still don't. I try to walk in everyone's shoes first. Let me not judge unless I want to be judged in return(and I don't).

The Black & White Thinking of Jehovah's Witnesses---Are You Still Affected?
by minimus inas witnesses, we were taught how to think.
we were force fed whatever "mother" told us was best for us.
we were constantly having ideas "inculcated" into us.

Poll-----Did The Internet Help You Get Out Of The Organization??
by minimus ini read many "apostate" books before i left the "truth".
mentally, i was drifting away for years.
but i do think that the internet really made it easy to see all the evidence that overwhelmingly showed jws do not have the "truth".....was the 'net instrumental in getting you out?

I was wondering for those unlike myself, born into the borg, what made you come. What did they show you that changed your view of religion or God. There is an elder in my dad's congregation who trys to preach to me when I visit. He says he was a atheist and did all this research and came to be a JW. He supposedly can read Greek (probably a lie) and trys to prove John 1:1 should read "a god". He seams like a bright guy, must be one the internet, I just wonder how he can still believe it.
any input appreciated. pc

In "The Truth"?
by rockhound inwhile at assemblies we would often see friends" in the truth", and one of the questions they would almost always ask is, are your kids still "in the truth"?
it seemed the thing to ask, with so many falling away from" the truth".
reflecting on that expression "in the truth" i think that most witneses feel as i did, that the watchtower had pretty much cornered the market on "truth" from god's word, hence the feeling that if we stayed close the the watchtower organization, we without doubt had,or were in, or were closely associated with "the truth" .

For those of us who still deal with family who are JW's, don't you just crack up when they use that term!! "THE COLOSSAL LIE" is what they should say.

S I'm not sure if your being satirical or sincere. Maybe I just don't understand the different personalities here. I'll try to be less sensitive with everyones responces.
Markfromcali My time reference was in this regard, if you tell an infant "wait 5 minutes then we'll go" do you thing he understands? No he doesn't. In that regard, couldn't the same thing reply to God?

What I sometimes find so amazing here, is the degree of putting somone down for thier views or questions. It's like the old JW in some of you rears it's ugly head. Maybe it just appears that way because were all just typing words. I certainly don't think I'm special or something. All I know is, my life feels right that's all. I'm not passing judgement on anyones beliefs or thoughts. I was just asking a question. pc

Minimus, I am so sorry and saddened for your mom. It is amazing how low the elders can go. I hope you just surround her with love and happiness so she won't even remember her sadness. Who knows maybe this good all be a huge blessing for you both. PC

Why do many religious people dislike non-religious people?
by Elsewhere ini've noticed that usually when someone who is very religious finds out that i am an atheist, they become very agitated even though i never actually said anything negative about their religion.. are they embarrassed?.
do they think i am condemning them?.
do they see me as a threat?.

I don't think it's about religion. People find it very hard to accept someone who thinks different then them. It just like the whole political thing. People get so indignite about your view if you don't agree with them. I love to listen and openly debate people and hopefully I'll walk away with something I didn't know or realize. It really comes down in my view to peoples insecurities with themselves.
(How's that for a Dr. Phil( I hate that guy) view)LOL!!

I was wondering about different people on the forum. I was raised a JW since birth but never had one ounce of spirituality. I did the fade and have been out for years. My family however was for the most part intrenched. Many times people refer to people who believe in religion as weak or needing something in thier life. I have found out all the lies of the Watchtower over the past year. I am now however very involved with reading and researching the bible. I am very lucky in the way my life as gone. I read of others on this forum and my heart truly breaks for all of you with different situations(etc. family, monetary, relationships). I however don't have that. I now believe in God and call myself a Christian. I do not look at anyone at all and judge them. I read all the different information everyone post and honestly sometimes it is very confusing for me , but I love it. And please don't view me as another one of those religious nut's because I am not. I can party with the best of them, I don't go along with any of thier judgemental views. I have just developed a love of reading the bible and trying to follow the commandment of love thy neighbor. FINALLY YOUR ALL SAYING!! My question is to those who now do not believe in God or the bible.
Did you attend any other religious type groups since leaving JWS or read the bible. What changed your point of reference.I read an incredible analogy on this site about cops who sit back while a woman is getting raped. After thinking about what I came away with is we view things from a time reference that does not exisit with God. I am not sure if anyone understands what I wrote but would love your input.
THanks PC

I haven't been posting very much lately, but always stop in a read. I just wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone on this forum. The amount of research, advice and just love for people who are known only as an anonimus poster, is amazing. I laugh to myself when my dad makes some remarks about "apostates". I know many here do not believe in God anymore, but you all follow a path were I am proud to walk. I was never a believer in God as a JW raised since birth, but now I truly have faith. What is best is for the most part no one judges or belittles each other for thier views. So I wanted to say THANK YOU so you all realize what you do is not in vain.
