The reason I'm asking is after I had a loud discussion with my "Elder" brother the other day, he said something to me I didn't expect. I was trying to talk to him inregard to blood and after his usual pat answers I said "you really need to do some research outside the Watchtower. He then replied something like"(my name) don't you think I do". I was totally shocked . I am thinking now maybe he has been looking at some sites. I really hope so anyway.

The focusing on video games and the like is not a sign a child does not have ADD. There are many different types. The problem seems to be with things they are not interested in. There is a test called a TOVA test which is done on a computer. The kids with ADD/ADHD stay as focused as those without. It is the time response that seems to be the biggest difference. From what I have read is seems to be so boring anyone could get distracted, but those with ADD/ADHD really can not stay focused on the task at hand.
I believe thats one of the test they will be giving my son along with some others.

Nina I am dealing with a similer situation right now. My son is 13 exteremely bright but cant seem to stay on task. He sounds very similar to your son. I have gone back through all his school records and have seen a constant thread running through them. I believe he has ADD but can mask it. It is now presenting a problem because of the more intense workload. I am meeting with a specialist next week who deals in childhood disorders. I have also read some great books on it. People tell you all kinds of things to do and I have tried them all. I give my kids no food coloring, mega vitiamins, no preservitives, etc. I see very little effect at this point however. Two books I would highly recommend are "Driven to Distraction" by Hallowell and "Healing ADD the Breakthrough Program That Allows You to See and Heal 6 Types of ADD" by Daniel Amen.
My pediatrician is who recommend the specialist I'm seeing. I let you know what she says. I see her the 15th. pc

I just had a brief discussion with my brother who is an elder. There might be a medical situation in his family. I just put my 2cents in by saying"make sure you do some research about the blood issue". I said something like if you weren't suppose to take blood then you shouldn't eat pork. He said it also says in the greek scriptures not to take blood and quoted Acts 15:28,29. Can someone give me alittle assistence with the meaning of that scripture. Thanks PC

A rock and a hard place
by Pistoff ini have been in this forum for 2 years now.
i have slowed down in posting but only due to being very busy.. when i got here, i was looking for evidence that the child sex abuse scandal was the result of a few bad elders; when i found that it was not, but was systemwide, my brain snapped.
i had emotionally left the hall in 1997, but just kept trying to reinvent myself and my faith.. i was determined to strip my faith down to the essentials, and build it back up so that when i went to the hall, pursued privileges and so on i was rock solid.

Pistoff Many here were the second to leave after a spouse learning the truth about the "truth". Hopefully your son is planning to attend college when he finishes school. Make sure he goes away to school and that experience will certainly open his eyes. Just hang in there, you know everyone here relates and we are always a good sounding board.. PC

I always saw myself leaving. I loved the "world" to much. After fading I realized what I loved so much was just called "LIVING".
