It was surreal. Your impressions of the "Monthly Awake!" service meeting?

at our service meeting the conductor of "more emphasis on the bible!

" (the march kingdom ministry article discussing the monthly awake!

) routinely asked the questions, comments were read from the paragraph and there was a rediculous emphasis on the scriptures cited, even to the point that wt references were given that had nothing to do with the subject.

Even though there was no mention of the "real reasons" for going to monthly publishing in the KM, ...

I think it's another proof of the atrophying of the Organization. The fruit is withering on the vine.

This, combined with the hardline announcement, "do not circulate or download these [unauthorized kingdom song] recordings from the Internet," made the whole service meeting a bit surreal.

The more they oppress God's people the more they will wake up and leave.

and when they say they keep knocking on the same doors in case peoples circumstances have changed.

they are looking for something in that persons life so they can build them up.

so why search out weak ones?

1.When I was first studying .......I was told God search me out. Gathered me to him. Today I was thinking, if God has searched out his people, Why did he draw out the wackos?

    2. So why search out weak ones?

    3. I was thinking how the love for thier spouses have lasted over the time(most are gone for 18mos) They don't see each other. Remain faithful.

    4. And how we are led to believe that loss of meeting attendance will deminish our love and relationship with Jehovah. I felt very insulted and angry at this thought. I remember someone asking me how do you know you won't lose the love? I said, Just as I know I won't murder someone. I don't need daily reminders to not commit murder. (well, with roadrage lately Maybe)

    5. I am not with direction and goals as I once was. I have retreated in this fight for life. And regrouping, rethinking and reorganizing. Some of the greatest wars won had lost many battles.

Thats my thoughts and I'm sticking to it.

I can definately relate to what your saying. Here are my 'thoughts.' 1. I think He looks for good hearted people...some of them are unbalanced and many are later trained and conditioned to be that way. 2. I don't believe He does, it just turns out that way...often. 3. & 4. I agree with you. Our love of God can stand by itself, we don't need constant meeting attendance to maintain it. I don't attend any meetings, I pray regularly and maintain a good and close relationship with God on my own. 5. Yes, I'm reclaiming my life back too. Questioning everything I was once programed to accept as Truth and deciding for myself what is right and what is not...And NO it isn't Satanic to do so!

    Disparaging Terms

    by Blueblades in

"apostate" is the most hateful, disparaging term in watchtower vocabulary.. yet, on page 15 of the dec.1st, 1984 watchtower they say,"it would be unscriptural for us ( wbts ) to use disparaging terms when referring to ones who do not share our belief.".

    talk about hypocrisy!

when anyone calls you an apostate, point them to this wt.and watch their reaction.. blueblades

If a Witness disagreed with the WTS and would'nt yield to their position when pressured, he or she would be labled 'Hardend.' It marks them and scares the others.

    1 John 4:1

went to the meeting this morning and stayed for the talk.

the speaker used a text that i thought was very ironic, 1 john 4:1 which reads " beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they origanate with god, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

" i found this ironic becuase we were trained not to test anything in the publications and never question what we hear from the platform.

Guys, JW Ben is exactly right. We were always encouraged to examine what we were being taught...just so long as we came to the correct conclusion that the FDS was always right!

apostate literature - i have read the lot.

you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.

and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.

    ...what is wrong with me?

Nothing. The Witnesses today are like the ancient Israelites, the have the primary truths about God and His purpose correct, yet they have deviated from the path, and like the apostate Israelites were dealt with severely by God in the past, the Witnesses (especialy their leadership) will be dealt with when the Master arrives!

    Lake of fire

    by A Paduan in

my apologies for dwelling on the 'death' thing this morning, but anyway...

following spiritual death, a person might join, or be in already, a group (a lake of men, not the sea, but a lake) with a staple of 'fire and brimstone' - hence becoming that which they are not, or not becoming that which they are - the death of the soul.

what do jws teach / understand as the lake of fire, and second death ?

They symbolize eternal destruction, not a living torment. After Satan and all those who follow him are terminated, death itself is thrown into the lake. So this growing old and dying we've come to accept as normal for humans and animals will cease for humanity.

When was the last time we heard of a GB member traveling the world preaching, enduring want and hardship...not in our life time. The hypocrites! Its fine for everyone else to do without and to have the meagerest of lifestyles...But not so for the vainglorious GB! Leave their Ivory Towers and do the Grunt Work!? Ha! Never happen...not since the days of the Apostles anyway!

    AlmostAtheist is correct.

It's the Witness arrogance that bothers me most. It's one thing to believe in something strongly it's quite another thing to look down on everyone who doesn't agree with you.
