Watchtower and the UN-latest development.

i will clue everyone in.

first, in the way of history, the wtbts got linked up with the un as an ngo (non-governmental organization).to do so, the watchtower had to conform to the rules.

I think positive articles of UN affiliates are simply that, a story about the food program or humanitarian programs. Perhaps in a way this may "soften" the old view of the UN but these could hardly be seen as "advertising" for the UN.

Why write Pro articles at all??? Will they next write about the humanitarian programs being done in Iraq by the US and it's allies? How is writing articles favorable to the UN staying neutral??? The WTBTS exists to advance a particular religious belief. It is NOT a news organization.

unforgivable sin

tijkmo's post on watson's "hypothetical" thread got me wondering again...just what the heck is it to sin against the holy spirit according to jw beliefs/teachings?

for something so important as to be "unforgivable" it has always seemed awfully vague to me (so vague that i was sure as a kid that it must be masturbation and for years i felt the great weight of ultimate doom heavily upon me).

is it intentionally vague, do you think, just to keep everyone on their toes and hyper-paranoid or am i missing something?

IS THERE a punishment worse than death? Yes, death without the hope of a resurrection because one has committed an unforgivable sin. Jesus said that there is a type of sin that "will not be forgiven."?Matthew 12:31.
...In fact, Jesus said that with the exception of the unforgivable sin, "every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven." (Matthew 12:31) So you may wonder, ? What could be so terrible that it is unforgivable by God??
Past the Point of Repentance
Jesus? warning referred to willful and deliberate "blasphemy against the spirit." There is no acquittal for this type of sin. "No, not in this system of things nor in that to come," he added. (Matthew 12:31, 32) Those guilty of such sin will not be resurrected.

Past the Point of Repentance? It seems to me 'sinning against the spirit' applies only to those anointed by it. Unrepentance by the non-anointed still earns death and there is no guarantee of a resurrection for any individual unrighteous person, only the hope of it. Would the death of all those at Armageddon be the result of their sinning against the spirit? I don't think so. Also, I think the consquences of sinning against the spirit applies to those who are perfect as well.

I'm happy to hear/read this. The more they open their mouths the more they openly expose who they really are (Matthew 24: 49) and the more deeper the hole they dig for themselves (Matthew 24: 51)

Which is more important to you; to prove them wrong or to get your wife out? Joyzabel's selections are excellent. "Combatting Mind Control" for instance. You need to concentrate on the wisest way to get your wife out of their thinking. Unfortunately, directly attacking the religion or the elders could push her closer to them and away from you.

This is the smarter way to approach the problem.

Elsewhere is exactly right.

Did the "Good Samaritan" wait on your Jehover to help the man who was robbed and beaten and left half-dead on the side of the road or did he step up and do something to help? Are you going to be the Good Samaritan or are you going to be the ministers and priests who walk past him on the other side of the road?

Suicide among Jehovah's Witnesses

this topic has been covered many times, in many different ways, but let's open this for discussion: if the witnesses allowed an elder per congregation to be trained as a "pastoral counselor" as other religions do, would that make it more bearable to be a witness and play by their rules?

would it lessen the number of depressed, suicidal people who feel they have no reason to live?.

WHO IS WORSE TO A JW, A PAEDOPHILE OR AN APOSTATE?

hearing about the child molester in glasgow who has been charged but not disfellowshipped did cause me to think a little;.

as an apostate you can be shunned without the need for a jc meeting irrespective of the fact that you might be repentent (not if you have any sense though); however the child molester mentioned hasnt been disfellowshipped!!?

?...if this is true doesnt it clearly highlight the wts f**cked up sense of morals?.

Very close friends show you they're NOT close at all!

I didn't give up and remained 'open' to new friendships...they eventualy came.
