since sirona posted her thread about the wts view of hypnosis i've been thinking hard on how overbearing and endlessly intrusive the gb are in the day-to-day lives of the people their supposed to be 'serving'.

it occured to me that 'they' are the ones who are 'beating their fellow slaves.

' after re-reading matthew 24:45-51and luke 12:42-46 it seems to me that the evil slave would have be people who are still in a position of authority over jesus's followers during the end times and not people who were no longer a part of the congregation.

LOL, I'm not an apologist in the sense that I perform mental gymnastics to 'make' the WTS correct in all things. I do believe their core beliefs are correct.

No problem. I have no interest in arguing, I had plenty of that at the Hall, especialy with the Elders! What I like about this site and those on it, is whether we agree or not we all think for ourselves and express our opinions freely.

You guys who think the WTBTS are some part of bible prophecy really take the damn cake.Why'd ya leave the hall in the first place? You might as well read the Revelation Book and study up on how the "Trumpet Blasts" and the 'Pouring of the Bowls' out represented the witnesses too. Jesus!

How exactly does the WTBTS do this would you say?

Their endless restriction of personal freedoms is oppressive. Their routine misuse of Fear and Guilt to manipulate. Their deliberate use of Self Doubt instilled into each member of the congregation to neutralize their thinking abilities and become an Unquestioning Follower. Add to that, the constant Policing done by the Elders at the orders of the GB. All of this constitutes "beating" their fellow slaves IMO. Jesus said the 'truth' would set us free, John 8:31,32 Well, instead of freeing the people the GB enslaves them, they are no better than the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus time, they are with haughtyness 'Lording it over' the Congregation!

Another point. It occured to me after posting this Thread that there must be a reason why Matthew 24:49 and Luke 12:45 read differantly. Might it be that the 'fellow slaves' are fellow Anointed and the 'menservants and maidservants' are the 'Other Sheep'? This would mean that everyone under the authority of the 'faithful slave gone bad' would be beat. I believe that would be consistant with what's been happening.

Your right Jesus did warn us of false Messiahs. I think they could come in any form though, religious, political, social movements. Whatever people will accept as their savior. IMO

What would I do? Divorce her like your doing. You may suffer injustice from the "You have no proof" Elders, just stand by what you know to be true and take comfort in knowing that God knows the truth about the matter, the Elders and the Organization don't matter.

The view of the GB that Mr. Franz and those who left or were expelled with him are the Evil Slave IMO doesn't match the description stated in verses 45 and 46 (or in Matt.24:48, 49). What do you think?

i've just received an email from a non-jw friend who is discussing some issues with a non-internet'ed jw and would like to offer some quotes.. i'm afraid i've lost track of some stuff and haven't time to find them right now.. can anyone help with any part of this?

Many times I was conflicted saying, "The Society can't be a cult because it has the Truth." The reality of the matter is, they can have the truth about God and even be His people, that does not and will not prevent them from becoming over zealous and behaving like a CULT! John 8:39,40, Luke 14:11 Nor does it guarantee correctness in all things.

This is such an obvious and shamefull perversion of scripture. It would really be funny if they weren't serious. This is probably the reason I'll be DF'd under the guise of 'Spiritism.' In the future I plan on selling Self-Hypnosis programs as a business.

Does this sound harmless? Would it be advisable for a true Christian to let others influence his mind by means of hypnotic suggestions? This would be contrary to the apostle Paul's admonition: "Present your bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason. And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God."? Romans 12:1, 2.

Could a Christian "hold a good conscience," if he allowed himself to be put into a state where he could not fully control his thoughts or desires or even his actions? ( 1 Peter 3:16) The Bible admonishes: "Each one of you should know how to get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor." (1 Thessalonians 4:4) Clearly, hypnosis would hamper one's ability to follow such counsel.

Fabricated Principles.

In view of the above-mentioned Bible principles, Jehovah's Witnesses avoid techniques that involve hypnosis or self-hypnosis. They heed the command at Deuteronomy 18:10, 11: "There should not be found in you anyone who . . . binds others with a spell." For those confronted with health problems, there are many other treatments that do not involve exposure to the dangers of occultism or allow for one's mind to be manipulated by others.
By keeping clear of practices that are contrary to Bible principles, Christians can have the hope of living forever in God's righteous new world. Then mankind will enjoy perfect health in body and mind without the use of hypnotism.?Revelation 21:3, 4.
