The World Wide Congregation is, and has been, run by small thinking fundelmentalist's. Progress in spreading the word and will of God around the Globe is not a real priority with them. They ignore the example of Philip an the Ethiopian eunich where Holy Spirit guided Philip to preach and then led him away. No return visits, no congregation building. It was a precedant for educating interested people and moving on. Jesus thru the Holy spirit would cause the Truth to spread and grow after that. The truth about Jesus and God's pupose was to free people from un-nessesary religious restraint and be a 'way of life' NOT enslave them to a NEW form of organizational structure. The ridged Synagogue like congregation structure developed through Paul who before he converted was an over zealous Pharisee, often narrow and small thinking, raised on a strict code of rules.

Yes, and it still is. There is NO ACCEPTABLE REASON why the Organization with it great financial resources hasn't saturated the Globe with the message over the last 100 years via Radio and Satalite Broadcasts. They will have to answer to the Master for it!

A very dangerous belief!!

we were unfortunate enough to be invited to spend some time with some of my jw relatives the other day.

my husbands jw relatives totally shun us but, my side of the family occassionally 'stoop' to allow us into their presence once in a while.

(a totally worthless occassion in which no 'real' conversation is permitted!).

Next time your invited decline their invitation. Its not a sincere offer to visit with the family anyway, just a token and condesending gesture at best.

I've considered the DA Letter too. Perhaps in the future I will since I don't follow all their "rules" anymore anyway.

since the begining of september iraq's central bank has been decreasing the exchange rate thus increasing the value of the dinar.

right now the exchange rate for retail bank customers is around 1300 dinar per dollar...still a great deal.

there has been serious talk from iraq concerning returning their currency to prior levels and comparable to their neighbors.

Since the begining of September Iraq's Central Bank has been decreasing the exchange rate thus increasing the value of the dinar. Right now the exchange rate for retail bank customers is around 1300 dinar per dollar...still a great deal.

There has been serious talk from Iraq concerning returning their currency to prior levels and comparable to their neighbors. So the Revalue could be anywhere from $.33 to $1.00 per dollar. So a $100 dollar investment now could be worth $429 to $1300 in the not-to-distant future. At Chase a Million Dinar right now is only $767 dollars Something to think about!

Because of the violent situation in Iraq, improving the economy by lowering the infation rate (now about 50%) by revaluing the currency is a priority.

Chase Bank exchanges Iraqi Dinar (I buy from CHASE 2-Day turn around). Just go to the Teller say 'you want to order Foreign Currency ~ Iraqi Dinar'

I'm told Compass Bank deals in dinars too. Otherwise you have to order from a private dealer online...which can be real headaches (I know!). There is a Rumor that Bank of American will be exchanging Dinar soon too

Is Jehovah evil? Overheard at the public talk.

i heard a new teaching from the public talk today that i'd never heard before.

the speaker asked a rhetorical question, asking if jehovah would be evil for killing 6 billion people during armageddon?

(yes, he actually said, killing 6 billion people) he then followed it up by saying 'yes!

Jehovah is not evil as we commonly use the word.

The second defination for the word 'evil' in Webster's Unabridged Dictionary is "harmful; injurious: ie evil laws."

Isaiah 45:7 "...I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things...."

1 Samuel 2:6-7 "....Jehovah is a Killer and a Preserver of life, A Bringer down to She´ol, and He brings up. 7 Jehovah is an Impoverisher and an Enricher, An Abaser, also an Exalter...."
Anyone got an explanation for these scriptures?

A child would consider a spanking evil. Yet, it is NOT wicked or truely evil to punish or reward an individual or a group of persons for bad or good behavior. Also, as Almighty God, Jehovah has the legitimate authority to set up life and run it His way though not lawlessly...that would be evil / wicked.

i've often pondered the impossibility of arguing with an armageddon-believer.

it's like, the only way you can prove they are wrong is out-wait them.

and if they refuse to set a date, well, you'd be staring the poor prophet down when you are wobbly, grey, and snaggle-toothed.

I think Heathen is on target. Jesus was sure about Armageddon. I do believe it too...AND I believe it will be in our life-time! After 81 years passed from 1914 the GB paniked and changed a major teaching of Christ stumbling many.

I think we are all better off to follow the teachings of Jesus carefully than we are to follow arrogant, self absorbed men who insist we obey and accept their views in everything as they 'lean on their own understanding.'

Those who don't, if they choose to live justly showing mercy to all, will they not be treated mercifully, no matter how things end?

I do believe that God and His Son will read the hearts of all humanity and save all those deserving. He has too, after all, His people have done such a poor job in getting His word spread, most of the earth hasn't correctly heard it yet!!

Is there a God that CARES ?

i was born with believeing parents, so automatically, i assumed that there was a god because my parents told me so.. when i was young, i prayed before going to bed and said thank-you for all that i had.. later in life, i realized that what i had came from my parents, not necessarily god.. today, i still believe in god, but i wonder if he cares.. there is something worse than no god.

it's a god that doesn't care and doesn't answer prayers.. when you look at the world as a whole, and see all the suffereing and injustice, you don't ask yourself if there is a god, you just wonder if he cares.. .

There is a lot I disagree with the Witnesses on, one of the things I do agree with them is that God does care and that he is without fail going to re-claim His earth and all those desiring to live by His law.

I truly believe the War On Terror is the prelude to Babylon the Great's destruction and soon after Armageddon.

Flash, the question I have for you is: How did the Jews treat men of the nations and tax collectors? Jesus (the Bible's perfect example) seems to have given us a lead. How did he treat Matthew (a tax collector?) How did he treat the Samaritan woman (a woman of the nations?)
For that matter, how did the Jews at large treat foreigners?

Just something to think about. I'm not convinced that the words you quote dictate shunning.

I think he makes a valid point about shunning NOT being a "hard and fast" rule we must follow.
