Would You Like It If The Elders Called You To See How You're Doing?

i read how some seem to complain that the elders never visited or even made 1 call to see how they were doing.

would you really want the elders visiting and calling you at this point in time?

I went through this a few years ago. It's a long story, but I will try to summerize. In 1991 I came back to the JWs. Married a JW woman with 2 small children. Three months later I fell on a construction site... ending up with a closed head injury. In about 8 months she gives me divorce papers. I left. The elders called us in, she said she couldn't take my mood swings anymore and didn't love me. The elders publicly reproved both of us, even though she admitted I was acting quite un-normal. One of the elders later actually agreed with me when I told him that it seems I was guilty until I could prove to them that I really had a brain injury. I was guilty until I proved my innocence!

Okay, left the lot of them... again! Several years later I'm ready to move on, so I call my ex and tell her I've had sex and I'll send the elders a letter. Soon after, I get a call from one of the elders. He says the Society has given them new info lately about head injuries and they would like to meet with me. I told him that all they did was kick me while I was down, and not to ever call me again!

So, no. I didn't like it!

my heart hurts.

well i have been feeling a bit like crap lately.

work has been very stressful and my attempts to make new friends outside of the jw's have been mostly futile.

the people i work with are immature and are more interested in the latest office gossip and whose doing what than anything else.

Though I am new here, I am an old soul. What you have said you are experiencing is the exact reason I went back in 1990 after being out for about five years. Two years later I finally broke out for good. Just remember that everything in life is relative. What you are used to is what is normal. A very important thing is to put your past behind you, and realize that everyone has their own life to live. My father and evil stepmother have not spoken to me in about seven years. I feel sorry for my father. He is missing so much not being in my life, but it is his life. I "choose" to make my life great! Take joy in the fact that you have gotten out! Just imagine what you can do now! You can go back to college without the "people" looking over your shoulder, wondering if you?re slipping now that you are actually thinking for yourself.

What really helped me get out and meet people was this:

I joined a community theatre! These are a great bunch of people who create on an unlimited base. They throw cast parties for every show. They need help of all kinds; people to work on the sets, painting, cleaning, wardrobe, serving refreshment at the shows. These are an amazing bunch of people!

I also went to mixers for the Houston Grand Opera, Museums, and Symphany.

I know your loneliness, the meltdowns, the wanting to return to what is "normal".

The most important thing I feel is don?t keep yourself isolated. You MUST get out and meet people!

"I have wanted for ten years to change" does this means you?ve been out for 10 years?

Obviously, there many people here at this board who wish to offer you support.
