Thanks, all. That is a devastating doctrine and is just one more reason why I could never be a Witness. As if I needed another reason, lol.

my inactive jw hubby said he thought that babies/children too young to choose their beliefs would be brought back after armageddon in the jw belief system.
i have read the opposite on this board.
my husband hasn't been to a meeting in quite awhile and i don't think he paid too much attention when he was there ... lol ... so i thought i'd ask.

what shoud i tell 'em, part me out or not?.
they want my heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and corneas!
at least that's what the lady asked when i renewed my drivers license today.
Yes! I won't need my guts when I'm gone. lol. I would think some parts stay pretty usable - and like a previous poster said, the doctors can decide.
I like the idea of donating one's body to science -- is that something your family takes care of when you die, or is there "pre-registration"? (man, sounds like college scheduling...)
too tired here!

i'm lonely.
not much to do here in togo.
can't even think of anything to say to start some sort of interesting conversation so that i could post replies and 'talk' to people.
Congrats on the future newcomer to your family. My cousin is doing work in Burundi right now - yikes, not a place I'd want to be! What are things like in Togo?
Take care,

good news... good news!!!.
i got a phone call a short time ago and it's official... i got a new contract job!
granted... it's not a perm position like i had before... but it'll pay the bills!
Congrats!!!
in your time with jw's did you meet any of the 'anointed' ?.
i have met a number over the years, and they all seemed very normal, intelligent, balanced, loving people.
i've met a few obviously 'bogus' ones too.. my question is (atheists, agnostics, and god/bible basher please ignore and move on to another thread): what if there are genuinely anointed christians in jw's midst?
I have a question.
If someone is annointed and then gets disfellowshipped or disassociates, does their spot among the 144,000 open up? Does someone else sudden become annointed, is it up for rent, or is closed for business?

un proposal: i picked up a comment on another site about a supposed resolution that was to be introduced to the un on january 27th, 2004 that would effectively ban religion.
if this is true, then the jw leaders (governing buzzards) and their followers will have a prophetic field day!!!
here is the link to the claim: http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2004/1/emw100794.htm.
In my experience, many Christian denominations will accept or be tolerant of other religions, but if you are nontheistic, you are on the hell list. I don't consider that tolerant. I've been told I was going to hell because I don't profess a religion... told that by one of those warm fuzzy non-denominational Christians who supposedly has compassion and tolerance for everyone. Nope, I don't think JWs are unique at all in their "Convert or be destroyed" idea... Otherwise, why would most if not all deistic religions proselytize?
Just my two cents.

i always thought around 125 or so.
i just asked my brother how many are in his hall and he said about 80. i thought that sounded very low.
anyone have any info?
Only 45 in the one my hubby went to, and I think the number is going down.
i bring this up because i was just thinking about some crap i went through with my jw in-laws awhile back -- when i was marrying their son and we were desperately trying to figure out a way to do a wedding without him getting disfellowshipped.
the things i heard them say (their objections) seemed framed by what the elders would say, how it would look to the congregation, their privileges, etc.
i don't remember ever hearing them say that anything would displease jehovah.

No, no, it would just displease other people.
At the time, I liked to think that they didn't mention God because they sincerely did support our married (I still believe that and have every reason to -- I love them to death, and they treat me like a real daughter) -- but I didn't really consider that maybe displeasing the elders/congregation and displeasing God was one and the same to them. I didn't ask.
So out of curiosity... when you were a Witness, was there a difference to you between the judgment of the Witnesses and the judgment of God?

who is procrastinating... homework sucks
i was wondering if anyone has seen any kind of data related to the highest educational levels attained by jws... don't they ask for religion and education on the census?
i seem to remember my mom mentioning something about a study awhile back that listed the percentage of each religion's followers that had college degrees - only at the time, we were looking for info on a different religion, so i didn't take note of the jw level.
anyone have any ideas?.
I'm trying to find it online... in the meantime, I have found that Witnesses have the highest percentage of female worshippers - 71%.
