I'm uninformed... can someone tell me where the "120 years" comes from? Thanks!

well, looks like they do have a new date for the conclusion of the end, and that we should "be prepared".
even some people that commented said that 90 years of the 120 years have passed by and we should be prepared for the time at hand.
2034 people, 2034.... i've had enough, i'm talkign to the elder about this one, i don't care if i get labelled or not.

i only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.
So interesting! Thanks for sharing, everyone.

Have a happy Wednesday.

Edited to add:
My hubby was baptised at 11, stopped believing by 16, and was inactive by 20.
this is partially in reference to the post on what you said when you were at the door.
it's been a few years since my hubby's been out on service, so i'm wondering - do dubs still ask for a donation for the magazines?
we haven't had around, but i know a friend of mine said that some dubs slipped some under her apartment door a few weeks ago (while she was hiding inside, lol) and they never came back.
Cool, thanks!

So are they free now? Are donations only asked of book studies?
... So much I've learned about dubs, and yet, so many simple things I don't know!

ok so i'm talking to my kid (4) today about martin luther king and the importance of the things that he believed in.
he is in preschool and they also talked about mlk in school apparently which i think is great.
i asked him what he learned about mlk and he said he that he was a 'special man because he cared about people and he said it didnt matter what they looked like'.
My opinion:
I think it depends on where you live. That might be too simple an answer, but that's what would determine my decision as to what age to teach the youngens about guns. I live in a town where there have been ZERO murders in the past three years and none by firearms in as long as I can remember. I hate to be cliche, but it's a town where people still leave their doors unlocked, and it's safe to do that. Granted I don't have kids yet, but if I did, I wouldn't feel the need to tell them that "guns kill people" at the age of four. It just wouldn't be necessary.
If I lived in an area (I will say urban, although I know there are dangerous rural and suburban areas too - so, any area) that was dangerous -- that had more frequent crime, where guns actually were used, then I might want to consider explaining to my children what guns are and why they are dangerous. It would make more sense, if it were something they might actually come across.
As for death - I don't think children that age understand death whether it's their parent or teacher who explains it to them. That's been my experience, at least, as a former daycare teacher! They can't understand a dog's death, much less a person's. I think in general it's the parents' job to explain it, although they certainly will hear about it at school and on TV.
I don't think the preschool teacher needed to say how King died - I agree with you there.
Just my thoughts, take 'em or leave 'em.

this was the letter i sent to the judicial committee of my congregation ten years ago today:.
"due to changes in my life that are in conflict with the teachings of jehovah's witnesses, i no longer want to be known as one of jehovah's witnesses.
that is all i am willing to say on the matter, so there is no need for the committee to visit me.".
Congratulations! What a warm and beautiful post. The "world" isn't such a bad place after all, is it?
Take care and thank you for sharing.

this was posted on ww today.
do you think the apostate infiltration had anything to do with it?.
in the name of christian unity and peace, we regret to inform you that the management of ww has decided to close the ?park?
Jonadab,
I didn't mean to imply that any of the staff went over the dark side - never thought that for a moment. I take neither "credit" nor "blame" - my comment about credit was more of a joke than anything. Such a massive shutdown is rarely the result of one incident, but rather a series of issues - I don't think any of us can say we know why they are shutting down for sure, but I see no harm in conjecturing.
Just my two cents.

i was just wondering if jury duty was considered taking part in the world.
i just found out that my mom had jury duty a few months ago and went!
i've never been a registered voter and thought you had to register to be called to jury duty.
My devout JW mother-in-law did jury duty awhile back and it wasn't a secret or even a big decision. I don't think she knew she had a choice - she didn't want to do it because it was sex-related (and she is very squeamish) but there was never any concern over the religious implications.
Although, the more I read, I think their congregation is more liberal in a lot of things, such as meeting attendance. Most of their young married dubs only come once or twice a month and are still considered good associates. Go figure. So maybe jury duty isn't a big deal. The good aspect of that, of course, is that they do not zealously pursue inactive ones. :)
