Mysterious of the "OMG is that a spider?" *screams* class
um...hit enter too early.... anyway as some of you remember, i have had landlord trouble, and mike and i moved into a fine apartment and we have been here a couple months.
the neighbors are great, the landlord is great, this place is a historic old house with high ceilings, hardwood floors, fireplaces, mice in the wall..... this right, we are apparently living in a nature preserve.
not only is our celler a hell where we get attacked by spiders, leacky foundation, and the occassional bat flying at us (and they get in our bedroom too!!!

what are common experiences we have, conflicts and resolutions of these situations?
i.e df'ing, brainwashing?
i'm starting a screenplay, and just want the basic's for a skeleton.
Certainly work in there conflicts that happen to young JWs at school. Not only holidays and patriotism but extra curricular activities likes dances, overnight trips, sports etc. Plus the general disregard other students often have especially if you have called at their door..
", the man asked.
the man asked, "suppose i decided to become one of jehovah's witnesses.
"no, that's not a part of the vow.
Wow I had missed this evil forum scroll. Poztate made me read it. Some great points in there.
back around 1980 (i cannot remember the exact year), the speaker at the district convention said that each non-fulltime-pioneer jw should pray to jehovah and explain to him why they cannot pioneer.
if you can't come up with a reason, then you should start pioneering.. if i remember correctly, this counsel was repeated in the pages of the watchtower magazine the following year.. did anyone here respond to this "encouragement"?
i think it pushed me toward pioneering, although i didn't do it for very long.. this was a subtle but powerful guilt trip that tested your loyalty to the organization.
They still pull crap like that, especially during special pioneer months. And guilt trip people into rearranging their circumstances. Working people supporting households end up pining away that they need to do more, want to do more, should do more. Etc.
i learned today that a group from california is in our area working "seldom worked territory".. my jw friend told me to watch for them as they are in town working their territory.
it all made me laugh.
they aren't in montana, or north dakota, they are in edmonds/lynnwood washington.
Answer the door more often they must think you're all not at homes that never get reached.
so dubbies.......do you really believe your dedication is to jehovah .....or to the society?.
...the witnesses are dedicated to god not to any legal agency.... .
...the legal corporation and "the faithful and discreet slave" are not interchangeable terms.
The problem with Wacky Watchower quotes is there are just too many to go along..although admittedly secular sources that many years ago had some pretty quacky cures in them too. But there is more than enough religious and social nonesense they have published to go along.
why is it that a watchtower article 40 years ago on raising kids has more relevance than a 3 day old copy of today's parent or the latest paperback in the bookstore?
but since the awake doesnt have dieting information the newstands are fair game!
over and over they say to stay away from so called self help sources that have a lot of good advice to feed them all this @#%@ from the magazines.

Were you ever obedient to the dubs when it came to where you went for advice? I know the line had to be when I was looking for information on being gay...I certainly didnt find any so called "comfort" in the "spritual food" lovingly provided to me. Although from the number of copies and photocopies shoved my way my mother thought they could solve any problem.
Even now my mother is faithfully pouring over a magazines from years ago to get advice on something or other.
a good friend sent me this piece of delicious 'morsel'.
i'm still chewing.
have a taste!
I think I saw this the other day as well. Oh here we go. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/77388/1.ashx
most informed ex-dubs are familiar with the november 1954 douglas walsh v. the right honorable james latham case.
some of you newer ex-dubs may not be.
each time i read the following excerpt of the court questioning hayden covington (the society's chief lawyer) it still chills me to the bone.
I dont know about you guys but I think it's heartening to see the JWs on the wrong side of that kind of questioning.
i was going through my things the other day and i came across a journal i used to keep at quite a young age.
the mentality there is just scary.
i was quite the budding writer with my big words but can you see all the canned thoughts and phrases lifted from the dubs and dropped into my grammar and writing style.
Nothing wrong with being a dork as long as you admit it. (better a dork than a JW)
