i barely made it in under the wire, so to speak, but my three younger siblings had to quit (our dad made them--he said they would be better off "pioneering" but in reality he put them to work in a gardening business he started since he had quit his job and maxed his credit cards--waiting for "the end".

long & short, had a temp secretary who is a jw.
had problems, eventually got rid of her, but she still works at the firm.
This will sound like one crazy idea but.....what would do you think of talking to one of the elders from her congregation?
Witnesses want to be known as good workers and the way I remember things they wouldn't want one of their gang "bringing reproach upon the organization" Maybe things have changed and now it's okay in their books to be a nuisance at work. I've been out since 1981 and there's always"new light"
Another way of looking at it. Who will want to go with her to the Kingdom Hall? Sounds like she is shooting herself in the foot with all this preaching.

how do we know that bethel and other congregations monitor this site?
is this confirmed.
and if so i am assuming all those monotoring must be doubtful as well.
I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that someone monitored this site. If they are doing some "theocratic warfare" it would most likely they are after those that are still in the org. right?
I had a real good laugh at some of the items posted here. At least the sense of humour is still alive or maybe in some it now can work it's way into the light of this world.

i will be "studying" the chapter about the memorial with my local witness contacts.
as a christian, i find their teachings on christ to be nauseating.. i am looking for a chance to bring out the old russell books and ask them to clear up my confusion about a number of previous teachings.
if anyone thinks of me, and is so inclined, send up a prayer on my behalf for wisdom, clear thinking, and above all that the true love of jesus will shine through me and the spirit will open up some darkened hearts.. ts.
DAWG said why bother....I don't say it quite like that but I don't have the energy to discuss deep scriptural topics with any of them. No one comes to our door for years now. Can't say I mind either.
My hat is off to anyone who has the tolerance to go through the meatier items of their curriculum.
And we never know what little tidbit may supplant itself. May not be coaxed to the surface for years but their brain has heard it. Let's hope it goes to the heart.
I almost think I could have a heart to heart with my sister and her husband. And tell them some of the things I read on this site and have actually have experienced first hand. My little sister has a caring heart and it has allowed her twice to come to my aid when ill. I will just think on it for now. Don't have the emotional energy to go there. The fact that I am even thinking of approaching them amazes me.
I am thinking about you as you endeavor to show them some LIGHT.
I will finish off this post by saying that is my husband's 4th Alcoholics Anonymous birthday today. Our daughter, 2nd oldest son and his girlfriend will be attending. Oldest son had to work. My husband's father and his wife plan to be there. My husband has really made the program work and I am so grateful to God and Jesus and lots of human beings for having back in my life.

i need some feedback on treatment after leaving or being disfellowshipped: not necessarily about how you were shunned by family members, ex-friends etc.
but please don't hold back if you would like to let me know about that aspect.
i may relate one or two situations of my own if this thread gets going.. what i am looking for is: did you notice anything that might have been taken as attempts to discredit your name, sanity, credibility etc.
What seems to be the case with stalking is if the organization is trying to find grounds for disfellowshipping. But once your out I would imagine that declines or probably stops. But how ridiculous their sleuthing methods appear eh? What my friend needs to be convinced about is that they just aren't likely bothering with him anymore. I know for a fact that most of his fears are unfounded. Especially now that I have done some sleuthing myself.
Frannie: I have started to read over those items you jotted down for me. I have the phone number of the counsellor who has been looking after my friend since his accident. And I will possibly see about printing off some of this material for him.
I have already talked to the receptionist of the accident lawyer and have more insight into the situation thanx to her. She was very professional about the information she disclosed.
Also had the opportunity to chat with a buddy of my friend. He was glad to talk with someone who has come out of the organization because the only info he has is from his buddy. I am afraid we both agree that even more serious "Head Help" is needed. We just have to convince our friend of this.

my almost 17 year old daughter left to stay with her dad last thursday.
this is the second time she has left due to my strict rules, like 10p school day curfue, get to school on time, keep your grades above a c. she has not kept to my rules, so as a consequence i told her this last wednesday night she has lost driving priviledges of the car i gave her on her 16th birthday.
she said she was leaving to live with her dad.
Is anyone in a position to explain what kind of legislation has been passed that would require Jill to go to jail because her daughter is not attending school? What country would this be?
Welcome aboard avec noir. You didn't mince your words. Are you still in the organization or have you managed to exit?
Jill I hope you are coping. You have already had my viewpoint but I do want you to know that I am thinking about you and hoping that something positive is resolved. Might take awhile. Someone made the comment about your daughter's feelings as well. I am sure this goes through your heart and mind.

feel quite helpless up here in Canada .....take full advantage of any agencies that will give you a lending hand. Any govenmental agencies?
I don't know what is available down there in California. Up here you could go to a Woman's Shelter for a spell..... Not ideal I know but it's a place to stay warm at night.
The fact that your parents are being so dreadful isn't helping matters any. And it probably wouldn't help if I said awful things about them either. They are your parents and they should be loving you but when you belong to an organization as this appearances matter so "f#$%ing" much. If there is a conscience with either of them hopefully it will rise to the top and they will look after you the way they should.
Blood is thicker than water........but water is so much sweeter to drink. There is alot of sweet drinkable water outside of that organization. Make sure you partake of it. But drink slowly and be selective. Little sips and breath in between.

After having a face to face conversation with this friend yesterday and later in the day, physically going to the location he referred to in our chat I realize that he is suffering from a paranoia or the such.
We all know there are truly mean spirited people in the organization and they would be nasty souls even if they weren't JW's. But having the ORG behind them gives some the right to snoop through medicine cabinets, spying and the like.
I remember the mindset. I checked up on a girlfriend when we were 17 years old and sure enough she was "being naughty".I never reported her but went to herself myself and appealed to her. She denied her actions. Ended up being publicly reproved and months later a baby arrived on the scene. She is a witnes in very good standing today(nasty piece of work she has become too)but I remember being very concerned for her spiritual welfare. It feels so good not to have to worry about someone's spirituality anymore doesn't it?
What is even better is being free from most of the after effects?affects? I know we are never completely free of the damage but getting to the point in your life where you know you are doing better than you were 20years ago and then 5 years ago and that tomorrow will be even better. I love the feeling of having most of the bitterness gone where I am concerned. But I can get rather emotional when I hear what others are going through and just hope they can hang on. Because it really does get better....just takes a bloody long time sometimes.
My friend has such a long way to go. Plus he was in a vehicular accident in the summer of 2003. Had no vitals when the paramedics arrived. Serious head injury resulting plus other physical things too. Still working things out with the insurance companies. And those stinking insurance companies could use a good ass kicking. I know they have to examine everything but sometimes it's plain ridiculous.
For those of you who pray please do so. For the rest of you keep my friend in your thoughts.
I do look forward to reading more comments and will be printing items off for my buddy.

it just dawned on me today..., .
that - i - must have been the reason that my deceased ms husband never made elder.. ugh, as if i don't have enough guilt to carry around.
he has been deceased for 10 years now, and after reading some things on this board, i realize, i must have been his problem.

Think of those poor kids and wives who had to be "beaten" into submission and he never admonished you?
You are one lucky woman and don't you feel guilty. You did him one big favour by questioning things. You did yourself a favour too.
