  ta-ta, well i will be leaving on friday to head up to the great nw, and will not be bringing my computer.

  i'll be taking over mulans computer for a few days .

  Wish you the best as you kitty-corner from Florida to Seattle. And you were born in Alaska? You are having a great opportunity to see alot of the countryside. Great priviledge to go places.   Tips on "reverse indoctrination" - fr...

  about ten months ago my wifes best friend (an active jw) stopped shunning her.

  it started with occasional phone calls.

  recently this friend chose not to attend the convention to avoid lying about talking with my wife.

  You said it so well.

  If you are church going person and are in a position to help a JW out of the organization don't try to fill their head with doctrine. There is so much going on in their hearts and minds after leaving or while trying to leave that it could just cause overload.

  Show them by your actions, not your words that you care for them.

  We were taught at the meetings that the world was out to hurt us. I feel fortunate that my parents did let me play with kids who weren't witnesses and we did associate with non witness relatives. Unfortunately they were still very involved and were considered strong witnesses but there were a few things that they didn't let the organization boss them around in. But for some the "the fear of world" was incredibly strong the so it is even harder for them to leave.

  Just love them, care for them and be there for them and sometimes it has to be totally unconditonal ....at least until they get stronger.

  it broke my heart today to find out that this child was not to be found alive.

  i grew up in and around orange county.

  i lived for several years in fullerton.

  I did not read the article. From all the comments made here I know I won't read it. Maybe it's hiding my head in the sand like an ostrich but I just don't need to know the details. All I know is that one more life has been snuffed out.

  With all the DNA testing I wish the death penalty could be brought back to Canada. We have 2 of history's worst criminals enjoying priviledges while serving time in our federal prisons.

  There must be a way to tell the story without splashing the horrid news across the headlines which give these deviants the publicity they crave.

  Let's make sure we look after our own carefully and keep the family of this latest victim in our hearts and thoughts.

  I was already out of the org when ACDC became big over here in North America so I am pleased to say I wasn't unduly influenced. They were middle 80's right? My little boys liked them. I did like the guitar player in his cute little private school shorts. ahem. I wasn't a big fan but don't you think they sounded like Nazareth sometimes? I liked Nazareth.....

  just wanted to say "welcome" to all the new people who have joined recently whether or not you've mustered up the courage to make your first post yet (it can be daunting).

  glad you found us and decided to sign-up!.

  i'm the tech guy behind the scenes so if you have any problems or questions then you can either email me (use the 'contact us' link at the bottom of each page) or post a question in the technical support area (unless your problem is that you can't post, lol) and someone will be able to help.. there are a lot of good people here and i'm sure you'll have fun as well as get some good answers.

  Okay ...now I know who the Simon is that I mentioned on the live chat everyonce in a while. Thankyou for the welcome.

  Doing the best I can to keep my nose clean. I keep the roll of toilet paper handy just in case....not refined enough to use kleenex tissues. Sometimes it gets abit nutty in live chat but I know I have the opportunity to leave if I don't care for the conversations. So far it's been good and I am really getting the hang of posting in the categories too. Some very sad and disturbing things being touched but at least there's a place to vent. Now I know why the goofiness is so good in live chat. It can really take the edge off of the tension. ROSALYN

  Has Crawdad Gone Linear?

  I am barely a week old with this site. I have been attempting to get some reading done and naturally this crawdad situation caught my eye.

  666 jumped out at me too. And the things that were written by craw were definitely unsettling but something terrible is going on with this person.

  At the risk of sounding like a little know it all, I think viewing the movie The Fisher King (Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges) should be manadatory before coming on line or posting anything. It will make us all think twice before we shoot off our mouths. Aren't we all suppose to be in this thing together?

  for all of us hosers and many americans in the north sctv was a staple for the basis of our sense of humor.

  there were so many great skits and mini series that were memorable to me like dr. tounge and the 3d house of beef and maudlins eleven, the happy wanderers,count floyd, ed grimly,six gun justice man i can go on and on.

  Gilda Radnor did a stint on SCTV before Saturday Night Live....sure would have like to have seen that.

  And I will take this opportunity to tell all that back in 1992 when one of my sons graduated from(junior public) grade 5 to senior public .....his teacher gave him an honourable mention and told everyone were looking at one the future writers for SCTV. I felt honoured by this. Maybe he could bring the show EH?

  So glad we are getting some Canadian content on this show....Now does anyone want to talk RED GREEN.....my heroe....Duct tape forever

  how would you go about offering help to ones seeking information on cults ?.

  it seems that we here are in a good position to help families get thier loved ones out of varoius cults.. i worry about how much knowledge youd need before you tried.. any thoughts or advice.. regards.

  I was asked a question similar to this before. the ???? was actually what do you do to help them once they have left. This, coming from a very kind couple who attended church regularly and eager to keep the Bible in mind. The thing that I found to be the most important is don't turn around and teach doctrine. Let them take it one day at a time. Don't try to unteach the organization all in one shot. It is is going to take awhile. Usually it takes years and every personality is different. Just care for them so they know that those horrible "worldly" people aren't out to destroy them. Gaining the trust and confidence will be needed because many who come out are in a very fragile state. So just care.
