how's the weekend going for you?
mrs ozzie and i have been enjoying doing...........nothing much this afternoon and evening.
we just needed to recharge our batteries so to speak.
#7- From the moment I started studying, I wanted to carry a lot of literature. It always made me feel studious and when I eventually became an elder, I usually toted a copy of The Aid book along with various and sundry magazines, news clippings, and/or volumes required for that day's study(ies). It was always heavy and Mrs. alfie never could understand why I felt this need to have such a huge bag.

how's the wekend for you?
mrs ozzie and i attended the most incredible concert today - the best violinist we've heard up close and personal.
brilliant - even if he is a pom!!!.
DC's were actually a highlight for us. Even our daughter looked forward to them, for the guys naturally. She was pretty good I must say, in her attempts to convince us otherwise. I usually worked in one of the departments and liked sitting close to the stairs and the concourse so as not to disturb others when I had to exit for my duties.
As for myself: #14-looking happy

#20-other-looking for seats & looking for our daughter

so how are things for you this weekend?
getting some rest from a busy week i hope.
that's how it's been for mrs ozzie and i. we managed to combine a week in the tropical north having a short break along with some business (investing in some hotels).

Late?...Late...? Never happened. Being late was a NO NO for this man. It used to drive Mrs. alfie crazy, this driving need to always be at least on time if not early.
Hi all, it has been a long time since I've been here, and there is really no excuse, I've just been absorbed in other pursuits, political mostly. Mrs.alfie however continues to follow all your postings daily so I am kept up to date, but I digress.
From the moment I became a Witness until the time doubts about the WTBTS started, I always felt it was somehow a responsibility of mine, and subsequently my family, that we should be among the first at the KH to greet and make feel welcome all those who came to the meeting. My wife and daughter bore this abuse gallantly, even to the point of more often than not being the last to leave the hall as well. What a selfish man I was. Made for a perfect elder though.

i know that you already know what he has told us through his word, but i am curious to wonder why you have chosen to jump off the narrow road which leads to everlasting life.

Hey Little Witch congratulations to you and your kids. I put a little gift at the beginning of this reply because you are going to find out what joy grandkids can bring into your life. Mrs. alfie and I have two (still toddlers) and even though my wife babysits 4 days a week and we usually see them on at least one weekend day, our little ones help us laugh and love so easily because they give to us unconditionally. May your time spent with your grandkids be filled with the same joy and kindness.

Speaking as one who joined the organization wearing a beard, kept it for quite a number of years and then regrew it just before he left, I think #'s 2,6,7, and 12 are applicable. Although 6,7 are so similar, they could be considered as one reason, #12 could include: beards are reminiscent of hippiedom and/or a socialist leaning, which of itself smacks of political involvement.
#2- Just after my deletion as an elder and just prior to my exiting the Gulag, I was being reprimanded by a couple of elders about romoving my beard, while their wives were commenting on how they liked my beard and could never understand why the Society had such a problem with them. Needless to say I kept my beard. No one's going to rain on my parade!!!

i'm rather sad today.
i've been putting off taking my old dog (14 years old) to the vet because i knew the news wasn't going to be good.
it was even worse than i thought though.

I really feel for you in this situation. Several years ago we had to make the same decision as our fourteen year old cat Licorice was diagnosed with stomach cancer which is inoperable and terminal. Our options were much like yours in that medication would make her comfortable and relatively pain free.This was our baby as we'd had her since she was weaned, she was a gift to my wife and daughter, and I personally had known her and seen her virtually from the day she was born. It was for us an extremely difficult and painful decision, but we decided that if we medicated her,prolonging her life would be mostly for our benefit. I then worried that if we couldn't afford her medicine, her pain would be severe and that thought killed me. So I took her to the vet and he euthanized her.My wife wasn't there and later admitted she would have really been troubled. Myself, I cried for a long time and still get watery eyes when I look at "Licksie's" picture. I'm not going to tell you what to do as only you know your situation, but whatever you do, we'll be thinking of you feeling for you, and understanding your difficulty.

i have a possible six hundred who would like to do a protest at the canadian branch hq in georgetown , ontario on october 20 which is also the day of the rally in calgary.

A good protest is just what we need here in Canada. We'll,(Mrs.alfie and I) will be thinking of you at the rally and will be keeping an eye on CH TV for any reports. Likewise to everybody in Cowtown. Wish we could be there in person, but that's just not meant to be. Party on gang!
