Don't meet with them if you don't want. Use caller ID and don't answer the phone if it's them. If the call is blocked don't answer it (probably telemarketers anyway). If they come to the house don't asnwer the door without checking to see who it is first. If it's them don't answer it.

There is no reason you HAVE to talk to them.

And I know my jw sister will do anything to help me get that way

I take it this is a different sister than the one that has been out for 17 years?

At the very least if they DF you without talking to them it will take them alot longer to get around to it than if you let them talk to you and they DF you right away.

I remember every congregation that I went to, there was always the scifi fans. Couldn't wait to be "perfect" and live forever so they could build starships and travel throughout the universe exploring. The reasoning behind this was the jehovah made this big ol' universe for our enjoyment. And since we will live forever we can have endless time to explore it.

Advice needed in regards shunning

i am trying to help someone and need some advice.

when i left the jw's, i was one of the fortunate ones in that i was never shunned.

my family has unconditional love for all their kids which seems to be a hard concept for a lot of active jw's to grasp.

Hi Gopher, Thank you for the welcome.

My step-father is an Elder. I am treated the same way you are. That is the problem with JW's . They don't even know what all of the books they have say. Especialy the Elder Book. Most Jw's don't even know about this book unless they are pulled onto the back room and it is whipped out on them.

I only put that info up so maybe somebody can try to use there own illogic reasoning against them.

Here is a little bit of a post from another board. I just copied the Part that has the source material. The rest of the post is interesting to read.

The Elder manual, "Pay Attention to Yourselves and to All the Flock", coded ks-91E, published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., in Unit 5(a), "Overseers 'Ruling for Justice Itself', under the sub-heading "Proper View of Disfellowshipped and Disassociated Persons, the bolded lead-in sentance says, "The principle set forth in Jesus' words at Matthew 10:34-38 has a bearing on situations involving disfellowshipped or disassociated relatives," then goes on to state in the last paragraph of Page 103:
"Normally, a close relative would not be disfellowshipped for associating with a disfellowshipped person unless there is spiritual association of an effort made to justify or excuse the wrongful course."

Did you ever had any TRUEl Friends in the WTS?

how would you discribe a true friend?

and do you think you ever had any real freinds while you were there?

i think its hard to have a real freind if you need to be careful about everything you say and do.

NOPE.....I have not had any contact with anyone I knew after I left. I had afriend that got DF'd and I would still go visit him and talk to him. But when I left, it was like I never existed. Heck your family is expected to act like you never existed.

I believe that is why I am so dysfunctional in relationships with anybody today. After 22 years of being expected to just turn you back on anybody at any time, you start not to get to close to anybody. I have friends now that call me up if they don't hear from me for awhile. Never happened in the JDUD's. Only thing I heard from them was "Your not getting enough time in, you should be doing more, ect. ect.".

If your a JW you will know who your "real" friends are if you are if your ever reproved, DF'd or DA'd. They will flee you like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
