Were you happy as a witness?
by JH inthe few years that i was an active witness, i can't say that i was very happy.
i really didn't mind missing a meeting.
i always felt that a meeting every 2 days for the rest of my life was a little exaggerated.

Political Discussions
by Heatmiser ini have been reading the previous posts today and have noticed some pretty heated depates on politcs with, rightfully so, locked threads.. all of us on this board come from many different countries with different forms of goverments and benifits.
everybody thinks that they have the best and are willing to defend that view.
i would hate to see any of us lose "friendships" on this forum over debates that have no winners.. i enjoy posts from everybody that is involved in these discussions and would hate to loose the insights they provide on every other issue besides politics.

In the words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?".
This part of my post was a little joke.
I just don't see the point of people from different countries getting into heated discussions over nationalistic political views. It is like comparing apples and bannanas.
The problem with politics is that what one person considers Dogma and Propoganda is a legitimate view point to another person.
Example: Say I was a republican and spouted the party line. To a democrate I am spouting Dogma and Propoganda. When a democrate spouts his party line, I am thinking Dogma and Propoganda. To him, it is a legitimate political view. No winners, nobody is likely to change. Just a bunch of bad blood between fellow posters.

JW's and Pubs/Bars
by Heatmiser ini have noticed on past threads from posters from other countries than the usa that they would be hanging out in pubs and such while still jw's.
in the us i believe that going to bars would pretty much be a df/da offense.
in other countries is the policy different?

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess all of my JW years I read more into what was put out at the meetings. I remember the only time I went to a sports bar when I was a Jdud, I was scared to death that my old lady would find out or another Jdud would see me leaving the place. I am pretty sure that all of the congregations I attended it would not have been taken lightly if it where known that you went into one.
I think this falls into the catagory of what WT policy is and how it is applied by individual congregations. In my 22 years in I never knew of any JW the went to a bar.

I don't have any written proof of WT policies, I am just going off of memory. I knew JW's that wouldn't even go to a bar to use the phone if it was the only one available to use in an emergency situation.

Is anybody else into this?
by TD init's a small, fairly unobtrusive program that eats up spare cpu cycles when your system is idle.
it can be run as a screen saver if you so desire.
basically, it makes you part of a global cancer research computing grid.

I have been crunching work units for SETI for 3 years. I have done 953 units. The first 2 1/2 years my old computer took 15+ hourst to crunch. My computer I have now does one from 3 to 4 hours.
Later this year I am going to switch to something like you are showing. SETI is starting a new phase of research. I feel it is time for me to move on to something more worthwhile.
