Unconfused,
That's surprising to hear. With all of the frowning-upon JWs do for extracurricular activities, school sports, and worldly association, it's rare to hear about someone who actually could do them all without being "encouraged" not to. I'm glad to hear it though... that's how it should be!
Thanks, Purple, I fully intend to!

social skills and JW's
by Descender init occured to me the other day that many jehovah's witnesses have very bad social skills outside of the kindom hall.
my brother, who still goes to meetings but isn't a strong believer, and his wife, who is a 4th generation jw with very stong beliefs and a very self righteous attitude asked my wife and i if we'd like to go for a hike at a local national park the other day.
i faded years ago and my wife is not and has never been a jw and isn't religious.

Social skills, and the development of good "people skills" is an area of great deficiency for those whose lives have been solely guided and nurtured by the organization. They are taught that quoting Bible scriptures and converting others to their belief system (because everyone else is wrong) is the most important work in the world, all the while they are taught to fear others and not get too close to people they spend most of their waking hours with at school, at work, and even in their own families.
Those coming in as adults have an advantage with this if they've been able to take advantage of and participate in normal social situations at school, with extended families, and other healthy social outlets. But they also may come in from other kinds of closed-system environments, where they trade one belief system for another. Add to this that in recent generations we are more open and enlightened about issues and topics than our parents or grandparents were.

It's a great challenge even when one's out and the other one still believes, though is inactive.
This is tough territory to live in for sure. And it's different for everyone.

Message board ranks...who cares?
by Burger Time innot to be mean but why should i care that you have 3,000 posts?
this yet again proves how useless even making stats like this public are.
it just gives people ammo to say, "i have 25,000 posts so obviously i am more vested in this board then you".

Do like me: I've configured my account so that every time I post, my post count goes down. See, clever me!

What's Your View of Spiritism Now???
by minimus inof course, as witnesses, everything was possibly "demonized".
if you got anything second hand, you could be in demon trouble.
if you saw a horror movie or read anything by stephen king, you were inviting the demons to you.

All call for "the happiness crowd"!
by changeling inall are welcome to join.
all you have to do is be happy and positive.
you must honestly want to spread your happiness infectiously throughout the world.. you must try to wear a smile most of the time.. you must listen compassionately and give good hugs.. i does not matter if you are not currently feeling happy, but you must promise to summon the feeling from within yourself.

Sirona,
Your journey is intriguing to me and I am wondering if you could elaborate on this. I am genuinely curious and would love to read more details about it (if you'd rather PM me, that's okay too.)
Thank you,
