For what do you stand?
On my two legs, with sometimes two left feet.
I can only stand in the moment, in awe at this life-sustaining atmosphere, grateful to breathe.

as a jw, i stood for god not being a trinity, creationism, no blood transfusions, 'wickedness' not being gods fault in any way, god would soon solve all the worlds problems by destroying it, etc.
i was thinking about what i stand for now, and it's not much, compared to when i was a jw.
i stand for my self respect, the middle class and i don't like seeing innocents being hurt.. s.

Heard a chorus sing that song at my first "worldly" benefit for a beautiful organization in our area a few years ago.
Sitting next to me was a woman about 20 years older breathing with oxygen tanks. Cancer.
As they sang, and I heard the occasional clicking coming from her tanks, I knew I was in a moment teaching me a lesson.
My whole life as a JW wallflower flashed through me; the undeniable knowing that this is life right here and we (I) will not live forever...
I hope you dance
I had tears in my eyes. I knew I had to start living NOW.
Months later the woman next to me died.
I went to her memorial service, given in a shady pine forest by the non-profit organization.
It was another beautiful moment.
I'll never forget that song. That woman. That day.
And the lessons I learned.
Keeping my sense of wonder,

at a recent assembly, there was a talk highlighting the dangers of higher education.
the brother used an example of a young girl who went to university, began going to bars, and ended up getting drugged and gang raped - as if this happens to every young jw who chooses to get higher education.. .
what ridiculous examples have you heard used at meetings or assemblies?.
And you never hear the ones about the brother driving home from the special talk and having another driver plow into his rear-end at a stop light totaling the car (thankfully the brother wasn't hurt).
Or the one about the family of four JWs murdered after stopping off at a diner coming home from an assembly (that happened in a southern state about a decade ago).
Or the one about the JW Elder and his wife murdered by their 16-year-old son (80's Willie Carlson case).
Or, or...

Broken Promises,
I know! And it sure makes me wonder what % of pro-JW board particpants from the late 90s are now outside the JW box.
Terry, my very first apostate email encounter was in 1998 with Kirsten Haugland, who with (now ex) husband Jan created the Web site "The Internet Superhighway Freed Their Souls" or something like that. Scary days!

there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information about michael jackson's jw status as a young man.
it's clear that he was raised a witness and that he was a practicing witness (a publisher) in the 1970s and early 1980s.
but there's some uncertainty about (1) whether he was baptized, and (2) whether and when he was df/da.. i was looking around on yahoo answers and found the following question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=aqerwd.lhqkco.59fnqahbrty6ix;_ylv=3?qid=20090628174024aafwsky&show=7.

Thank you, Obed, for creating the first online pro-JW site (Witnesses.net) I've ever participated in and Big Ray for following up with another JW board. Experiencing both communities, a few way dysfunctional members, and all the other stuff happening on the edges of them helped open my eyes and give me courage to see what those nasty apostate Web sites were up to.
I wonder if Ray's cold logic ever crossed outside of the JW box...

i did.
still not finished with a degree yet but i'll get there.. how about you?.
it was okm in the old days 50s and 60s then it was our kingdom service in the 70's then they changed it back again??????.
this is the publication used at the service meeting thursday nights showing how to preach in the territory..
this topic is about the difference between how we see the world and how it really is.. we each have our own way.. some of us try to be mostly rational.. others, prefer a more religious, spiritual or mystical approach.. i'd say most ordinary people (non-specialists) mix the two.. .
with that premise in mind, i say the following:.
dropping an egg on the floor tests the integrity of the egg well-enough as measured against gravity :).
