I know for a fact that my old kingdom hall isn't doing great. After I left, everything went downhill. Actually, I lot of young people that were my age got married and moved away, not sure if they are still in the "truth" though. I would say that we had as many as 10 regular pioneers 3 years ago, (myself inclueded) when I was going and now I know from my parents that we only have maybe 1. My parents never seem too excited to tell me about what my old friends are up to.....why? because they are all losers because they still live at home with their mommy and daddy and never went to college. Also, you can forget about outside growth, because even when we had 10 pioneers, no one was coming. I'm now hoping my old hall goes out of business and gets absorbed by another KH where everyone who is left has to drive 45 minutes just to get to meeting.

What is the mood in the Kingdom Halls nowadays?
by JH inwhen i used to go the meetings in the late 80's, the mood was good, knowing that the end was close.
later on in the 90's while i still attended once in a while, people were starting to be less zealous and were starting to put their needs before those of the kingdoms.
people started to buy houses, instead of living in apartements, they were buying nicer cars, taking vacations far away, and mostly, the women started to work, to help pay for the better life style they were living.

Yeah, if they do record your phone calls, they have to reveal that, or otherwise I believe it is against the law. I always call from pay phones and use throw out phone cards, call me paranoid. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they did record your phone calls.

I know but if it's not about sex, what's the point really? I guess call me original, or maybe I watched it too late at night because I totally fell asleep.

To say that Bush wouldn't serve during the Vietnam war is ridiculous is not ridiculous. First of all, I wasn't alive during the Vietnam War but I know many people who were alive and there were only a few legal ways to get out of military service. First, you could defer service by going to college but when you got out you could still be drafted or you could join the national guard which assured yourself a ticket for stateside. Everyone knew this and the national guard in almost every state was deluged with applications.
So, to get into the national guard was very difficult, let alone into a high ranking position such as the Air National Guard. Bush use his money and family connections to into the national guard and I don't know why he is ashamed of it. This was a different time period with an unpopular war and many people used similar methods to avoid going to Vietnam.
Why wasn't it an issue during the Election 2000? Well, it came up a little bit but Gore didn't use it because he was only a war reporter in Vietnam, yet another way to get out of actual combat. Bush shouldn't pretend that he did this great service for his country when many politicians including Clinton and Gore used similar techniques to avoid combat. The National Guard back then, unlike today didn't mean you were on the front lines of a combat zone like Iraq. Further, Bush shouldn't issue statements like Bring Em On when he has never truly tasted war for himself.
Kerry did go to Vietnam, would that make himself a better president, not really. Just maybe, he would be a little more hesitant to send people to war though. However, our country has had great military and non-military presidents, so it all just depends. However, I must say, standing next to Kerry does make Bush seam a little weak.

Lost in Translation was only good for the scenery. It was kinda of let down by the fact that Murray chose the older women than the young one to have a mid-life affair with-what a bummer. Plus, they should have expanded the scence where you cook your own food-I wanted to see that. Bottom line, not enough sex.

Of course, I couldn't call from home, so I use payphones but too bad their number isn't toll free-damn cheap skates. It really is fun to call and just make that guy try to wiggle out of something. I am always polite, but I just keep giving it too him. On the baptism nullification issue, I called twice and both times his defense was weak and circular. I would say that I won both debates. I just wonder if they rotate those brothers out at the call center because if every call is like mine, I'm sure they lose one from time to time if they were exposed to that kind of questioning everyday. Oh, and often the sister will put you on hold because she has no idea what department to transfer you to if you ask something about the UN. Oh, and they will ask you if you are a elder. Just say yes and that your kingdom hall is being overrun by apostates. You need emergency spiritual assistance-that always gets them going. Plus, as a added bonus-they play kingdom melodies while you're on hold.
If your bored-number to bethel (718) 560-5000

My major is History BSED-Hopefully I will be a high school teacher in two years, and will then go back to be a professor eventually by taking summer school. I just can't maintain my current work load for another 6 years straight to get my doctorate. I figure that I put so many hours in already (used to be a pioneer), that I should be good atleast to age 50. No seriously, I feel that I have helped way more people since I left the org. than I ever helped when I was in the org. I like to do small things on a everyday basis that helps people out.

It depends, school when your older is a mixed bag especially when you commute like me. I think the professors feel bad for me when I tell them I'm married and have a child and that I have to work full time. Most of the kids at my college live right on campus or nearby, so sometimes it's hard to get things done especially with all my distractions. Plus, college is sorta like high school with an emphasis on socialization which makes me mad that I really only have time to go to classes and that's it. I think that it is ok, and maybe even a good idea to take a year off after high school so that you can travel or find yourself, but to wait 5 years like me and then go back really sucks. The first semester is awesome but then reality sets in and it feels just like another job. Although, I am happy just to have the chance to make it now, the opportunity.

I'm going to the 2:00 meeting, no just kiddding. However, if you do have to go to the 2:00 meeting, your Sunday is totally screwed. Of course, your suppose to go out in service in the morning, a whole day of theocratic blahhhhh. I haven't really gained any more time by not going to meeting because all my time is now consumed by trying to catch up with where I should be in life which involves working 40 hours a week and going to school full time. In like 2 years though, the weekend and weeknights will be totally mine. Victory at last.

Could a JW pharmacist give out the morning after pill?
by Atilla inthis subject came to mind a few days ago when a saw a news article about a pharmacist working at a eckerd drug store in texas.
a woman came in for the morning after pill but the pharmacist who was very religious-not a dub-went in the back of the store and prayed about his situation.
he says that god told him that this wasn't ok, so he along with the other two pharmacists refused to give the pills to the woman.
