I hear that Disney is in trouble and that the Watchtower organization is trying to do a hostile takeover. If this is so, maybe eventually a trip to Disney won't be so bad. Of course, Disney characters will be replaced by Bible and elder characters and ABC will just run old Watchtower videos 24/7.
everytime you go to an assembly or to a convention or the co pays a visit, there's always a call for people to pioneer.
they always drag out a couple of pioneers on to the stage and "interview" them.
the one question they always ask is if the pioneers have any regrets over pioneering.
I regret that after a year of pioneering, I wasted my two weeks of vacation by going to pioneer school. Also, I should have tried to hit on the cute girl that was the daughter of my host family where I was attending pioneer school. Pioneer school is comparable to that old guy who sells those generic self help CD's so you can master Microsoft Windows. The CD is free but you have to pay for shipping-yeah right.
I thought pioneer school was the biggest waste of time. Nothing new learned and it was so watered down, that a 5 year old could attend and understand what was going on. Plus, already being poor, I had to take two weeks off from work so I could attend this meeting that was three hours away from home congregation. Oh, and our group did get counciled about partying too much at night-I guess who were to go home and study and be in bed by 8:00. It's really just one big sales convention, like those people who sell kirby vacumm cleaners attend.

I like the part about the witnesses operating the tract table and how that sorta stumbled you. The society likes to brag that even thought they are a international organization, the same rules and principles are used everywhere. Nonsense, they do whatever is convenient for each country and region regardless of the affect it will have on the members.
I remember hearing talks about Christendom's religions and how lazy they were because they did not do the evangelizing, just handing out tracts. Later on I would hear stories about some dubs just setting up tract stands and it would just make me think. Of course, this tract witnessing in public areas seems more normal and might even be more effective than stalking people at their homes. However, for the rest of us, it was door to door.
when my daughter was a toddler and i was still in the org, i would bring her to the meeting.
it was pretty difficult because she wouldnt want to sit still and i would end up just sitting in the womens restroom with her for most of the meeting.
often my parents, and even my siblings who had children of their own would say "what she needs is a good spanking!!
I think the strict nature towards children comes from the top. I can always remember hearing talks every few months, even at the conventions about the importance of disciplining your children. Spare the rod and spoil the child is their basic mantra which of course is often abused and used in excessive measures. I wonder if Jesus was ever spanked as a child-I hope so because punishment doesn't know perfection; only what is right and wrong in the eye of the punisher.

The problem is that the organization makes no arrangement or special distinction for the education of children. No child, especially a 2 year old can sit still for two hours and look at terrorizing pictures in the My Book of Bible Stories. So, basically these children are punished usually because after an hour they become restless just like the adults but are unable at that age to control their emotions.
To get deeper into the issue, I think you have to look at the whole culture that the society fosters inside the organizatoin. There is almost this fear to be seen as different or to be causing a scene. It's not necessarily spoken but the spirit is in the air like a heavy fog and influences everyone's actions. Thus, when your child at meeting "is bad" i.e.-restless; there is this unspoken code saying that the child needs punished. I always thought it was funny that the society is so proud that it didn't separate their children from the rest of the congregation into like a Sunday School program. Why? The earlier you start brain washing, the better. Plus, why would you want your child to even have the resemblence of a normal childhood? Basically, childhood is a waste of time-go straight to adulthood and start the preaching work.

No, I think that to have a nice encounter with a Dub is a oxymoron-impossible. Everytime I encounter one from my past, there is this weird akward silence in the first few minutes and I immediately have to put up my defenses. There is a strange interaction because the dub is trying to figure out where I stand-am I in, or out and they are just going of roomers and Org. doctrine. Any dub I encounter now will be ripped a new a**hole, prepare to be demoralized and defeated in debate. No hard feelings.

i surely don't have all the facts, but i do know this much: a man in his twenties felt that his interpretation of a 2,000 year-old book was directly sent from god above.
I think they are very sane and very smart. They lead a multi-billion dollar corporation that has millions of paying followers. Their reasoning is faulty and their beliefs are outright ridiculous. However, they have survived tumultous upheavals in their leadership and the realization that their forecasts about the end have come and gone, yet they still exist. Hitler and Goerbals would be proud of this propaganda machine that takes a hit and keeps on going. The third Reich crumbled and so will the Watchtower one day hopefully.

All I can say is what happened when I called actually just last month ago. They did ask me what state I was calling from and this info. I did give out but you could simply make it up. After this I was directed to they guy in charge as they like to say. However, he did try to ask what congregation I was from and what my name was at which point I said I'm not giving that info. out for my own protection-that pretty much stopped him dead in his tracks. This idiot at Bethel told me that I should ask my local elders about baptism nullification, yeah right. At that point, I told him he was full of lies and that I wanted to hear the viewpoint from the top since elders can't really act on their own merit anyways. They are all frikin puppets. Oh, on the way to work today I saw some witnesses street witnessing-I was going to yell profanities at them while I drove by but it was just too cold out. I figure they were suffering enough already.
