I've heard it said by some how Bethel "was the best career you could have, nothing would compare to its retirement plan".
I'm sure it's been a rude awakening for many bethelites.
hi acording to the 2016 year book the borg sent 6,000 people from bethels around the world "home" i think they might be struggling a bit lol .
I've heard it said by some how Bethel "was the best career you could have, nothing would compare to its retirement plan".
I'm sure it's been a rude awakening for many bethelites.
just writing down some notes to share with jws when i meet them.
here are a few of the problems of logic i see in their doctrines.
perhaps you can add to them.. systemic contradictions – jws boast about fighting for religious freedom – that is their freedom to share their differing views with people outside the organization - yet there is no freedom amongst members to disagree with any official teaching within the organization without the threat of losing friends and family.
The logic of so few Christians being of the anointed in the 1st century is ludicrous, and that's something I try to bring up occasionally in a tactful way.
I guess I would add the adhering to the Genesis account as a major flaw.
One more is that instead of reading scriptures objectively, they're now adjusting everything to fit pre-conceived notions, like over-lapping generations.
where is the garden of eden?.
i don't mean where in the world, i mean where in history.
adam and eve get booted out of this place.
There's lots of mythical elements to the Eden story. Would Adam have had a sword, or known what a sword was? How long would it take to name all the animals, especially ones found on other continents?
Virtually every JW book ever published contains the argument that "if only Adam and Eve had passed the test, we would all be perfect". Really? Do you think every single human from then on would be faithful forever? (Even angels didn't all remain on God's side)
Not to mention the timeline, 6000 years? There's so much evidence of humans predating that year by a huge margin.
The reasoning is that the Flood wiped out Eden, but I better not get started on that.
i bet most witnesses could not explain their blood policy, their understanding of the slave, and even simple biblical doctrines....they are an embarrassment to any old timer..
Witnesses used to think they knew everything about the Bible(I guess I did too). But I think they've become more humble now, or if they haven't they should be.
I recall going in service and often getting into long discussions with people, but that never happens today. Very few now could "prove" much from the bible.
To me the new format of meetings is totally dull, how hard is it to read part of a chapter of a book?
There's quite a few that don't even do any parts at all, and I'm glad to be one of them.
i'm looking for a bit of guidance here and not really sure where to turn.
maybe someone has been in a similar situation and can help me out.. currently i'm an awake, baptized jw.
have been for a few years.
Can't imagine going through all of that, hope you don't get black-listed for just trying to do the right thing.
Its very clear to me you are the one acting in the most "Christian" manner.
in the last couple of months, i have been practising my stand up.
so far these are my best jokes:.
not celebrating birthdays and christmas has saved me so much money.
I think even hard-core jws would find those hilarious!
about a month ago, i purchased arabic/english gospels of john that contain a commentary for muslims.. .
i went to one of my neighbors and spoke to him and gave him one.
fast forward to today, my brakes need done so i took my car to the shop, walking back into my street i saw my friend abdullah outside.. .
Simon says..........
great to see you put the hammer down Simon!
today's text:.
thursday, october 20. assist those who are weak.—acts 20:35.. you may know from personal experience that it can take time to recover from a debilitating physical illness.
similarly, a christian who has been weakened by personal difficulties or very trying circumstances may need time to regain spiritual strength.
i discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.
Most of us here have lots of experiences from our congregations with modern-day
"Pharisees". You are going to run into this numerous times the longer you're a witness.
You should probably ask yourself "what would Jesus do?" when this happens, but you're likely to become "marked" yourself.
so that was a "shocker".
i was not able to attend the meeting.
i had a more important one with my other apostate friends in the area.
Anybody ever see that movie "Last of the Mohicans"? It's probably a long ways off but I think the "hand-writing is on the wall" for witnesses.
