Welcome to the forum Jeanniebeanz!!!!
It's so great to have you here!!
what was it that was the real eye opener for you?.
for me, it was after watching the video, "jehovah's witnesses; a non-prophet organization," and the point on how the org puts itself in a place between jesus and mankind.
a position which does not exist scripturally.
I hadn't been happy for awhile but I think my turning point occurred when I observed all the proceedings and goings on in connection with my son's disfellowshipping and reinstatement. Truly, the reinstatement is always more painful than the disfellowshipping. And that just is not right.
I went to the Memorial right after that, just to be sure how I felt, and I detested being there, so I was sure then.
And all the research followed! Yay! Thank you Freeminds, Jwinfoline, Towerwatch, and most of all, this forum!
for many, religion is the root of terrorism and war.
since the beggining of creation or evolution, mankind is at war not only for religious reasons, but economical ones too.
oil is a good example.
Excellent suggestions, jeanniebeanz!
hey guys, .
i need to see a copy of the elder's manual so i have confirmation that i as the family head can attend my wife's "judicial committee".
i believe that i can, but i want to make sure it's in print somewhere.
Welcome londoner, very useful advice there on handling the elders. Thanks.
perhaps you have to be one of those who grew up in the 60's to really appreciate this thread, but then my kids love 60's music too.
who did you think were the best, the beatles or the rolling stones?
is there a bit of a psychological angle here too?
Beatles! Then and now. Sweet songs. Pre-George's Eastern influences.
Rolling Stones - yuck! Then and now.
for you people interested in the internet and technology, how long do you think it will be before we have wireless internet everywhere?
when the net is as freely & readily available as air, all you need do is log on, from anywhere... how long do you think... five years?
ten years?
I have such a "small town" mentality that I'm still amazed and amused to even see that almost everyone has a cellphone, nevermind wireless internet. I can't imagine how the world will change when there's global wireless access but somehow it seems that it'll be a good thing. Just how many satellites will that take??
I'm sure that will be abused somehow too, but so is just about everything. I found this article on the subject of expansion:
though i haven't been in the mood to discuss jws lately, i had to post this one.
it's a keeper and shows how fanatical they can get:.
on my way to work in our city's downtown area i regularly see a pioneer walking up and down the street, holding up his magazines.
I was absolutely flabbergasted that this guy could take a baby out in service in such weather. He had one of those plastic shields over the stroller, but unless he installed heating in there, in my view he was putting the child at risk, if not of hypothermia, of at least getting sick.
Yes, what an imbecile father imo.
which avatar do you prefer for brummie?

but weirdly enough, i've been mentioned here before, when one of my posts at lj (about whether or not subjection to the organization is relative) caused a bit of a war among ljjws.
i found this forum googling my username, actually.
i was wondering if anyone here has any theories as to why it is that, the more meetings we skip, the less we want to go.
My Mom died. No blood transfusion. She needed Oxygen.Rabbit - I'm so sorry - the exact same thing happened to my mom.

Hi maidden! Welcome to the forum.
I agree totally with Alan's idea of coming closer to normal by not attending and more specifically with what Rabbit said about stepping away from the indoctrination - our brains start to function normally the longer we refrain from the indoctrination. We find the wording and phrasing in the literature is quite unusual, once we really look at it objectively.
I also think of breaking a bad habit or even an addiction - the longer we refrain, the less our body or mind crave it, imo.
