Do You Know Of Malcontent ExJWs That Bitch About Life Because.....?
by minimus inthey were jws and blame everything on their jw past???
i know of people that never tried to get ahead or prosper themselves because they were witnesses.
never bought a house or a brand new car because they would rather rent and drive around in a jalopy that would break down.

Mini
Sometimes lengthty posts come from those that simply admire their own words on the written page.
And maybe sometimes thousands upon thousands of very short posts come from those who simply admire their own avatar on the written page.

Terry!
The length of the posts I make are a direct function of my lack of wit. Sad but true, alas!
T.
Balderdash! The length of your posts is always appropriate to what you're trying to convey. I've missed your posts and was glad to see you back lately Terry.
But then, maybe you're just joshin'....

Hilarious thread - especially the pictures. ROFL!
These birds are soooo beautiful up close - faces, smooth feathers:
But is he kissing her? Dominating her? 'Cause I don't think she has anything funny in the middle of her back, does she?

Well Englishman, that's great news really! I love you as a moderator but then I'm just plain crazy about you period - so while I'll miss thinking I can turn to you for help occasionally as a mod, it seems you'll be far freer to just be your own delightful self now! And that's a win-win, let me tell you!
So now I can just bug the heck out of Valis....

New Light on Higher Education
by seeitallclearlynow inmy son made a point to tell me that they had what was to him a very interesting, different talk on the service meeting this week.
the presiding overseer gave a talk on the society's changed view of getting a college education.. he used the scripture which admonishes the reader to "acquire a heart of wisdom" and applied it to getting a 4 year college education for the sake of being able to support oneself at double the rate of pay with one's degree upon graduation.
this of course is only for the purpose of being able to then pioneer, only having to work a few days a week, thereby having the time for the field ministry.. such an annoying change - finally!

Makes me wonder if they will ever change their views about organized sports. I kept 4 sons from playing as kids. But that's another thread.
purps
Purps - I agree totally! Keeping the young ones out of sports is so sad. I love how confusedjw has handled that. But so many poor kids who would have loved to be involved with sports have been held back. Of course, confusedjw is your typical "Soccer Mom", but we won't go into that right now...give the guy a break.

Sorry folks, Blondie esp. , haha! Just talked to son; it was the Instruction Talk on the Theocratic School. Direct from the Society. He didn't show me the school schedule but it was what was outlined for that week's school.

Insider info given to me by a very loyal, long time brother
by seeitallclearlynow inas mentioned in the topic title, a very active, very positive, "faithful" brother talked to me out of the blue at work last week.
it was a highly unusual opportunity - i happened to be in a secluded area, captive to my task, and i saw him passing so said hello.. he's a wonderful person with a well-known, fantastic sense of humor, known all over the circuit and district.
former pioneer, elder, fill-in c.o.

He's a wonderful person with a well-known, fantastic sense of humor, known all over the circuit and district. Former pioneer, elder, fill-in C.O. I say all this to give background and credibility to what he let me in on!
He said back in 70-71 they changed the congregation servant arrangement to the body of elders, saying they didn't want the problems associated with a few men having too much authority, as in the Catholic Church.
There was the new arrangement put into place, with various elders appointed to different positions, with regular rotation.
Since then, the org had gotten away from the rotation on certain positions. And he says they are now having the problems that they had said would result from giving one man too much authority (in this case, by not rotating the P.O.'s)
Now he took this as proof of the Society's wisdom back in '71. I take it in an entirely different light...muah hahahah!
Anyone else heard tricklings of this mounting "problem" of power? I know we've all heard and many have commented on the abuse of authority on the part of many elders in general, but what of this specific application?
