Thanks, everybody, for your comments, support, and input! I appreciate it very much!
And I will take it easy, and just let her find out on her own, now that I know she has already had some lingering questions.
you may remember i had started a thread about those of you who had been pioneers before discovering the truth about the watchtower.
i was concerned about helping my 25-year pioneer sister to see the true light, as it were.
well, she's been visiting for about a week and a half, and i finally got to talk to her about a few things.... .

at the circuit assembly, my mother mentioned to me that the society is warning of a new danger.
there are witnesses that are on the internet reading apostate things but are still members of the congregation.
they are slowly being infiltrated by the 'apostates' and are still amongst us.

She didn't know we didn't use to be allowed to get vaccinations. So she's going to look that up. That came up because she has been so confused and concerned about the blood policy changes, and couldn't fill out her DPA all these years! So she made a special visit to a member of the Hospital Liaison Committee out here for some insider info.
We talked about the former "cannibalism" position on organ transplants. She didn't know when it changed, but mentioned that a number of long-time Witnesses still believe that is the position. She's going to look it up....
She had already questioned the use of the name Jehovah in the New Testament (Christian Greek Scriptures) and had researched it, but is going to look further into it again because she didn't know that none of the 1000's of existing manuscripts have the tetragrammaton even once in the NT, other than the shortened form found 4 times in Revelation only, as part of Hallelujah. She agreed that the WT explanation about "replacing Jehovah's name in the NT only where it was a direct quote from the Hebrew Scriptures" was not true 237 times....
We talked about how the Society knew that the time for the selection of the 144,000 was completed in the 1930's - since they're all so very old now, and how many more replacement anointed are we to expect? She knows of no scriptural reason for them to have been all sealed by 1935. So she feels Jehovah just "made them sense it." She acknowledged on her own that some anointed are supposed to still be alive on earth after Armageddon, and sees the problem since the generation teaching has been newlighted and is now vague as to timing, and the anointed's days are running out fast....
She brought up on her own that the Watchtower recently hinted, but couldn't say outright, that our day is like Noah's, and he was told it would be 120 years till the end...so while the Society is now being careful about naming dates, she believes 2034 just might be the end date, and Jehovah just may give us a date for the end like he did Noah, but He hasn't told us yet. I asked about her take on 1975; she said she had really believed it was going to be the end, but was very glad it wasn't. She doesn't get it. I mentioned 1914, 1925 "in passing," but she didn't bite.
I couldn't "innocently" bring up the U.N. or pedophile issues or I would have.
I mentioned the legalism, but didn't get to elaborate.
Thanks for letting me share this exciting event with all of you. I'll keep you posted on developments.
sometimes when i go visit my mother, she mentions that i was a good kid because i was raised by bible principles.
i was crying for absolutely no reason at all.
around 11:30, i felt completely ill. i went up to my teacher and told him i was going to see the nurse.
Oh, and by the way, I'm all for Bible principles when handled in a loving, balanced, Godly way, but "Bible Principles" taught in a JW home do not necessarily keep children/young adults out of trouble, off drugs/alcohol/smoking/sex etc, as we all know of examples from our own congregations and lives. Also, a home completely devoid of any Bible principles, such as ours, can and has prevented the kids from all of the above, though why, I couldn't say - maybe it was an unintentional form of aversion therapy. But none of us smoke, use drugs, abuse alcohol at all, none are promiscuous or engage in illegal activities. We've barely even had any traffic tickets and no accidents. But I don't give my parents any credit for this outcome, as they deserve no credit.

Seattle - I absolutely love the points you just made. I want to memorize them. "I no longer have to hide from information." "Devotion to reality." "No more ranking, classifying" etc. "Like going from black and white to color." Thanks
.
since the watchtower society has been reorganized and split up in all these (sub)corporations, i wonder where the real power is located.
my guess would be the wtbts of pennsylvania, inc. other ideas?
Room 215 -
I found your comment about would-be reformers, like Dan Sydlik, very interesting.
Is there any more you could explain about them, and especially what makes you include Sydlik?
He was very outspoken even while I was (briefly) at Bethel in 1979, openly making comments even in my presence, say, in the dining rooms.
Thanks!

Say, Heather! I'd really love to see some of your homemade "Far Side" style cartoons of JWs and the KH - that would be great!!!!!

I'm very happy with my life now, for the first time. I can't express well enough how wonderful it is to have a FREE MIND.
The freedom from unreasonable control is great. The freedom from always judging myself and others is great. The freedom to choose volunteer work that I'd love to do, such as at a hospital or convalescent home or Huntington Gardens or a National Park or whatever, is great!
Freedom from excessive fear based on lies is priceless.
There are countless reasons why I am happy with my life now.
i have been out for 3 years now.
why do i still have nightmares about the end?
its the same thing about me standing outside then the moon gets bloody.
Stephanie, you precious girl,
You must have been raised with all the scare teachings and the images in the books that must have been very traumatic for children. I don't really know, but from what others have said who were children in the Borg, it has to have made some terrible impressions on young minds.
I have never had Armageddon nightmares or fears, but I used to have deep fear of the supposed "persecution" that was "sure to come soon."
I find reading the New Testament comforting, but I'd stay away from Revelation for now if I were you!
Love,
Seeit

Nosferatu,
Thanks much for sharing your experience. I love it because it shows how some children are such pawns to the Watchtower Cult.
Some JW kids had it easier because of more reasonable parents.
But what is so interesting to me is that I was raised with the exact same conditions and emotional responses as you, and I was NOT raised as or by Jehovah's Witnesses - my brothers and sister and I were raised by sometimes psychopathic alcoholic atheists.
It's so revealing to me that some JW "Christians" create the same atmosphere in the home for the children as alcoholic atheists.
HMMM.
