An Apostofest called.."Guess who I Am"

i don't really know what made me think of this......but i was wondering how good i would be at "guessing" who posters are at an apostofest......if it was a guessing game at such an event, and nobody knew anybodys names, and you weren't allowed to tell.

let's say there were 15-25 posters we are all familiar with from the board who have been around long enough for many to know them fairly well.

how good would you be at guessing who they are?

Gumby, it's a great idea. Would be a lot of fun. But so many folks have posted their pictures; still, there are many who haven't.

To ferret out certain fellows, I would probably look for smug, superior, argumentative, divisive men, and probably wouldn't find them - it might be a situation like happened with the Apostle Paul - he was quite different in person than he appeared in print.

Then I would especially seek you out, and would find a likeable guy in the middle of a crowd, happy, having fun together, all being considered equal as people, no one extolling the exceptional virtues of a very few individuals as if all the others were soooo inferior and not worth bothering with.

Then I would easily identify all the ladies, and have a good time.

i don?t know how many caught this, but the watchtower of march 1st, seems to put a new twist on a familiar watchtower theme of power and control by the gb.

did you notice the last 3 paragraphs of the last study article?

to me, they?re pregnant with hidden meaning, that is, regarding the power struggle that has been going on since the creation of a plethora of corporations a few years ago.. .

back in the 90s (i think it was '96?

) was the first time i punched in "jehovah's witnesses" on google.

the "generation" change had finally flipped me, and i knew in my heart that i would never again be the "happy little jw" that i'd once been.. well, lemme just say that the "vigor" .

Having known of Randy Watters' "apostate" efforts for years here in So. Cal, I typed his name in search, came up with freeminds, read a ton of info there, bought books, read and studied, kept going back to freeminds for more info; sometimes thought I had read it all, but clicking on one more little item each time brought up tons more material, so I was kept busy that way for a couple months; somehow got referred to jwinfoline and MacGregor Ministries, so spent a long time listening to all the testimonies, sometimes 2 or 3 times, and listened to all the testimonies on Tower to Truth all hours of the day and into the wee hours of the morning.

During this time, I kept trying to get into Net Soup but didn't realize I needed to disable the pop up blocker to get in there. Until I realized that, I was only able to get in the Net Soup Archives. In there I came across a few of Minimus' questions that really touched a nerve, so while I had no intention of being part of any discussion board, I really wanted to get a couple things off my chest, in particular, "Did You Ever Tell An Elder Off?" and "Did You Ever Turn Someone In?" and "Was There A Circuit Overseer You Couldn't Stand?"

Then I was unable to get back in for weeks, thought I had said something wrong and Simon had blocked me, was so offended and furious at the same time for weeks, then finally read in the technical section (DUH) the simple solution, and got back in, and now I check in every day when no one's around the house to catch me!

I'm a Special Services/Expediter/Phone Center Supervisor in a busy retail company. Extremely busy, challenging job.

Computers are not on the Internet, and I would never be caught on the Internet at work. No time anyway! Usually work "off the clock" as it is.

Doesn't seem like I give much thought to a final judgement. But at times, I feel that I'd rather be safe than sorry. But I also believe/feel that either "God is Love" or He's a liar. And why would he bother to lie to us?

Parents Refusing Life-Saving Blood Transfusions

i'm in a speech class in college and would like to make full use of it to expose jw's as much as possible, but in a respectable manner that won't get me in trouble with the professor.

i've decided to speak on whether or not it's okay for parents to refuse life-saving medical treatment for their children.

i was interested in what particular arguments hold the most weight with you.

I just read in the March 22, 2004 issue of the Awake! - Watching the World: Item: "How a Child's Death Affects Parents":

"Dying of a broken heart can be more than just a figure of speech," states The Times of London. Reasearchers at Denmark's University of Arhus "followed the lives of 21,062 parents in Denmark who had lost a child below the age of 18 to illness, accident, murder or suicide." They compared these parents with 300,000 others who had not lost a child. "In the first three years after a child's death, the chances of a mother dying of unnatural causes--usually accident or suicide--were nearly four times greater, while a father's risk increased by 57 per cent." The researchers suggest that increased stress may be the main reason for the higher death rate.

Perhaps the idea that it is just too, too, unnatural to intentionally let a child die shows how insupportable the Witnesses' stand on this blood transfusion issue really is. Not to mention how they have whittled away at the doctrine over the years, which shows they don't really know what they're talking about on this or other medically relevant issues that they have also "changed their mind" about over the years.

I had a chance to share some of the truth about the lie with my sister!

you may remember i had started a thread about those of you who had been pioneers before discovering the truth about the watchtower.

i was concerned about helping my 25-year pioneer sister to see the true light, as it were.

well, she's been visiting for about a week and a half, and i finally got to talk to her about a few things.... .

Hey folks, just a brief update, nothing exciting....

Sister is back home, back in the groove; and she sent me several packages as she promised - sent me an extra copy of the Watchtower 99 CD for research, and some specific mags and the God's Name brochure and the Draw Close book. She hopes they will help me. Sigh.

Anyway, she's very sweet, I really like her, in fact more than ever.

But apparently I am an incredibly good actress, because she does not seem to perceive at all how I really view the Society or their teachings, or the thought of going back to the meetings. She said "You never actually said why you haven't been going to meetings, but you did mention once that something we were talking about wasn't why you weren't going to meetings." So that made her realize, after thinking about that statement, that there was a specific reason that I was not attending, and it wasn't just laziness or being too busy. Sheese!

She sent me some KM info on the spiritually weakening effects of over-use of computers. LOL

Oh well, I may not have helped her at all, but at least they aren't shunning me yet!

PD - I posted a response to your question just today under your thread that asked the same question - but in the Four Presidents Book, it says in part: "The Mystery, as understood by Russell, meant that not only had Jesus, the man, offered himself as a ransom sacrifice for mankind, but the body of Christ, the 144,000 members of his church, also participated in the ransoming and atoning work."

"...Russell felt that the mediator for the New Covenant was "the Christ, head and body." That expression meant, of course, that the 144,000 actually participated in Christ's sacrifice for the world and were joined to him as his "bride" or his "body."
