Burning Bridges--a Bad, bad habit.
by LDH inone of the most important lesson an xjw needs to learn is how not to burn bridges.. what exactly does it mean to "burn a bridge" in the first place?.
well, consider if you crossed a wide chasm suspended on a rope bridge and decided you would never need to go back.
why not burn it?

Have you ever seen a JW with a beard?
by SpannerintheWorks inok, you've probably guessed i'm not talking about the women!.
but jesus had a beard (just look at any wt publication) so did paul, john the baptiser (or baptist if you've got an earlier publication), etc.. surely all jw men should have beards!
they are christians (the only true ones) aren't they?
-

i think they believe beards and moustaches are worldy and potentially indicate homosexual leanings - they see them as a part of 'gay culture'
perhaps it's more likey they find them 'homo-erotic' and because of their own reactions, judge others ???

Whats the dumbest thing you were counselled for?
by Beck_Melbourne ini was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.
if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.
one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

Watchtower email sent to me by accident
by Quotes inas you may already know, i own the internet domain "watchtower.ca" (note, ".ca" stands for canada).
if you go to www.watchtower.ca (thinking it might be the bethel canada site, which it would be if non-idiots were working at bethel canada) you are redirected to http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com (heh heh heh).. but it gets better: any email sent to <anybody>@watchtower.ca gets sent to me ([email protected]).. i just thought i would solicit your comments on the email i received via this method.
it appearst that brian andersen was forwarding some information from his private home email address to his work email address.

c'mon mike, you're just being silly now aren't you ? - i think what you meant was to go back in time and change russell's prediction from 1913 to 1914 ... ahem ... or was it 1915 ... ? ... anyway - they must have succeeded as we now know 1914 was the correct prediction ...

Visit by JWs/discarded magazines
by badboy inon saturday,2 jws visited and talked about how life had become cheap with abortion and cheap thrills etc.. i mentioned bungee jumping and said it was a dangerous thrill.. said `were we bookworms'.
i said `yes'.. later on monday as i walked into town,i saw a discarded awake!..
does it honour jehovah to have discarded magazines.. on a separate note,my friend seems to have mistaken about jws having computer, mistaken their book bags for something to do with computer.. sorry about that.

Barbara, Joe - although not with you in body, my thoughts and spiritual support are behind you
Redhorse - after what I consider to be the 'shameful' and un-christlike behaviour of Ted Jaracz on BBC's Panorama (see it here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/2114320.stm), I don't think anyone will be facing the cameras and questions from the press

Don't buy CD's from supermarkets.Please.
by sleepy in.
for music lovers everywhere.. don't buy cd's from supermarkets.please.thats an order!.
there just been a report in britian that supermarkets are increasing their share of the recorded music market by selling cheap cd's.. why is this bad news?surly if you can get a cd from tescos for a tenner instead of 15 quid this is good?noooooooooooooooooo.. i say that again , no.. lets look at it.supermarkets can sell cd's and other items cheap because they make a profit on the other goods you buy.they use the offer of cheap cd's to entice you into their store.they only sell chart cd's otherwise they will make a loss on more obscure music which won't sell in bulk.. if you love music and wish to buy music or listen to good new music in the years to come, you are shooting yourself in the foot if you buy your music from supermarkets at a lower price.it is a false ecomony.this is why.when you hear a piece of music you like in a few years time which is not chart music and go to you local independant or specialist music store you will see a big sign on the door ,closed.they will have shut down because lack of sales when all their customers went to the cheapo market ment they could no longer survive.. they had to charge more for music becausea.it was the only thing they sellb.they stocked all types of music and would not make money on some bands and would make up for it with more popular bands.cthey could get the music you wanted on special order if they didn't have what you were looking ford.they had knowledge of music and bands which was readily available to you if needed.and a good few other things.. you are not saving anything if you buy cheap.if you like music you need to support the peole who want to supply it,and offer quality, which in the case of music includes choice, not just marketed corporate crap, not those in it for a quick buck.they need to charge more but have a far greater range of product, one which a supermarket will never have,ever.. you have been warned.

i would be happy to buy my cd's from music stores like hmv and virgin, but they still charge ridiculously high prices - competition, even if only for chart cd's, has to be good if it forces them to drive down their prices
i buy new cd's online for 8.99 post free and get them within two or three days direct from hong kong (all legal) - why can't i buy them as cheap at tower records or the like ?
to bring this onto xjw lines, i used to have to hide my cd collection when the book study group was held in my house - nine inch nails, metallica and korn were considered bad for my spirituality ... yeah right ...
